I have seen many cricket world cups in my life, but I remember I loved the 1999 cricket world cup very much. Not that India won that but I like it because I was about 10 years old then and at that time I was at peak of my love for cricket. So I want to live and recall that Cricket World cup of 1999 played in England. So 1st , Match of the Cricket world cup, 199p was played between The host nation England and Sri lanka on Lord’s, London, England on 14th May,1999.
England won the toss and opts to bowl first, so that means Sri Lanka will bat first and England will chase the total which Sri Lanka makes. Sri Lanka started well and cautiously on seaming wicket and made 40 runs 10 over’s without any loss of wicket and Sri Lanka openers S Jayasuriya and Roshan M batted well but just when they were looking good they lost the wicket of Roshan M at the team score of 42 at the end of 11 over’s. And they ended the innings and were bowlded out on 204 runs in 48.4 over’s with their wicket keeper Ramesh K top scored with 57 runs in 66 balls with 7 4’s at the strike rate of 86.
England was required to target 205 runs in 50 over’s to win this 1st game of ICC cricket world cup, 1999.
England batted superbly well and with the contribution of captain and Wicket keeper of England Alec Stewart who made 88 runs in 146 balls with 6 4’s and strike rate of 60 runs in 100 balls Graeme Hick who made 73 runs in 88 balls Won this game with 8 wickets and 19 balls to spare.

England use to be one of the strong force to deal with in the game of soccer but now they are no more that strong as in times past they have allow even weaker teams unknown in the sport of football to win them in competitive games. i no longer belief in their supremacy in the the game of foot ball. Unless they raise their game i don't think i will support them in any competitive games again.
