Why Emotional Intelligence is Important

In previous articles I have mentioned Emotional Intelligence .   I gave an example of an obvious case of Emotional Ignorance and went on to show a genetic propensity to the kind of mistakes people who have no comprehension of Emotional Intelligence or a very low quotient, make.  Repeatedly.

There are people who do not comprehend emotions.  They do not understand that people tend to react based on emotion more than logic.   That there is a direct link between people with low emotional intelligence and the kind of life errors made in ‘Like Father, Like Son’.

A person who has a High E.Q. will examine why someone ‘loves’ them.   They do not feel insecure or unworthy, they are simply aware of their emotions and those around them, and be able to perceive that the reason this woman is ‘in love’ with them is that he is an American citizen and she is not, but wants to be.

A man with a low E.Q. will think he seduced her.  Will think he made her fall in love with him.  He will not appreciate he is a stepping stone.    To be course, the reason why men can go to prostitutes is because they can fool themselves.  Most women find it very difficult.

It is not impossible to fool a woman, it is only possible when she wants to be fooled.

Rob had a low level job, Johanna was senior.   Rob didn’t look bad.  Johanna did.  Further, Johanna had one of the most repulsive personalities.

But Johanna wanted Rob and Rob saw a meal ticket.  So Johanna ‘purchased’ Rob and can tell herself whatever lies she wishes to explain the relationship.     That if Rob had any other way out of his dead end life, he would have taken it, but he didn’t.   So he married Johanna, and became her companion, a house husband.

If the genders were reversed, the plan would come from ‘Roberta’   and she would get John interested in her, get him to marry her, get what she could get, and then get out.

It might look the same, save that likely, John would think Roberta was interested in him, not his money or position.

When one has emotional intelligence they ask themselves why, they put themselves into the other’s position, they measure, they comprehend, they know the questions to ask, they know what the answers mean, and their eyes are wide opened.

In ‘Like Father, Like Son’,  both men were used by women who wanted American citizenship.  Not just once, either.  They were unable to learn from their mistakes because they can not grasp the reality as seen through another’s eyes.

People with high E.Q. can look at another person and ‘read’ them.  They know when they are being played, when they have a use, and when they don’t.   They know how others see them and can create the persona they want.

They make errors of judgement but never irreparable, never life threatening.   And they don’t make the same mistake twice.
