Elvis Presley did a nice thing for me…

This was one drop dead gorgeous guy!  And to think he had a twin.  I wonder what would have happened, if his twin Jesse had lived?

Would he have sung like his brother Elvis?  If so…  Would they have been a duet, like the Everly brothers were?

We will never know…

I saw him in concert twice as a teenager.  Both in Jacksonville, Florida, where I grew up at the beaches.  One of my uncle’s on my dad’s side, bought me the first ticket.  And one of my aunt’s on my mom’s side, bought me the second one.

I had plans to see him again, during his 1977 tour.  However, he passed away before he was able to return to Jacksonville.

His voice is incredible.  My ears literally will become so mesmorized, when I listen to his ballads.

I have to admit though…that I had more fun watching some of the girls in the front rows of his concerts, then I did him.  They would scream every time Elvis got close to the edge of the stage.  One of the girls screamed so much, she slid right out of her seat!  LOL

And those hairdo’s…  My goodness.  They had so much hairspray in their hair, trying to keep those multi-story towers on top of their heads, from tumbling down!  LOL

I did have one cool experience at one of them.  I can’t remember if it was the first, or second concert I went to…  I just know it happened.

At the end of the concert, a very rare thing happened that time.  Usually, they escort Elvis off the stage and right out the door, after his finale.  With the announcer saying those famous words: “Elvis has left the building…”

But this particular time, he walked back on stage, after most of the fans left.  I happened to be still hanging around, because my relative wanted to go to the sales table to purchase some Elvis memorabilia.

When he came out, he notice me.  Then smiled and waved.  I was on top of the second level, and I shouted out if I could take a picture of him?  He motioned yes, and the closest I could get, was right behind the band equipment and speakers.

I watched him…as he tried to get to the edge of the stage, as much as he could, so I could get a good snapshot.  When he realized that this was not going to happen; he looked around, and found the smallest speaker, and started climbing on top of them all, until he got to the tallest speaker closest to me.

For him to go to that much trouble for me was so amazing, and gave me such a cool feeling.

Once he got to the top…he held out his cape that he still had on.  He then opened it wide for me…kneeled down, and smiled.  Once I got the snapshot, he asked me if that was okay, and I told him yes.  Then I thanked him.

I stood there watching him climb back down; get what he originally came out to get; then exited through the rear doors.

That memory…to this day is so vivid.  I can still see it in my mind clearly.  It will be a memory that I will hold dear to my heart, for the rest of my life.

I later had opportunities in my life to speak with several of his staff members, and security personnel, throughout the years, after he passed away.  But I will leave that for another story.

    • I don't think I have ever met anybody liked Elvis, who does not wonder if his twin would have been equally successful. I often wondered.

    • Hi teresa my dad used to look like elvis and even sing like him before he had stroke we have pics of him cds dvds records etc could sing like a dream

      • That is so cool. So sorry about his stroke though. At least you have memories of him in various media forms. Thanks for sharing.

    • Keep in mind two things, blood and emotions are the same in the whole world's people besides is nothing same between every two. It is impossible for all of us to sing just like as brother, sister, friend and favorite singer has been singing, quite impossible As you think his brother will sing like Elvis.

the second thing we must keep in ind, it is nor necessary that if the parents are famous their issues be famous, no law on earth of nature. Name and fame both awarded from the above.

Every body is born with his own luck and for a special purpose on earth.
