Drinking Coffee at night doesn’t help

I am usually a person that falls asleep quite fast. I used to drink coffee at anytime of the day and could still fall asleep but there are some kinds of coffee that have that energy effect on me. For example i have been drinking a coffee that is a bit intense in flavour but i am not sure that this is what makes the coffee stronger. It probably has more caffeine in it than the normal coffee i have been drinking before.

I like drinking coffee after dinner but lately i have been eating dinner quite late and then i drink my coffee. This has been messing up my sleep scycle a little. I find myself tired until i drink the coffee, then i go to bed and for some reason the energy hits me right when i am trying to sleep.

These past few days i have only been able to fall asleep around 3am which is not good since i need to wake up around 7.30 am to get ready for work. Today i almost didnt wake up on time to go to work. I end up sleeping so hard that i don’t even hear my alarm clock.

I am going to start drinking coffee earlier or stop drinking coffee completely at night to see if i start strightening up my sleep cycle. I end up being very tired during the day and can’t think that well at work. My luck is that these days it has been slow so i don’t really need to think that much.

This week i am going to try and change this, i need to get proper rest to be able to go to work and not have memory problems.

It is weird though because coffee usually doesn’t affect me this much, i think it is the new coffee we have been drinking that seems a bit stronger than the previous one.

So now i need to reduce on coffee or drink it a bit weaker to see if the caffeine doesn’t kick in so late.

    • It does not affect my sleeping pattern even if I drink coffee after dinner.
Maybe I am just used to it.

    • As per the recent research of Stanford university Dept., of Health and Immunity Coffee is good for health Persons taking coffee are less prone to cancer...of course this may look weird. So, Coffee has nothing to do with our sleep. It actually lowers the Blood pressure and de-stresses our body and mind. It rejuvenates our emotions and gives fresh outlook towards problems.

I am also a coffee lover. But, I drink only in the morning that too my brand 'BRAZILIAN COFFEE' AND this is enough to feel the taste remaining for hours together. During night also I take coffee. If I sit to work I will be preparing it by myself and spend some time for relaxation, My peculiar habit is I do not get sleep till I complete the project that is taken up. As soon as I finish it I immediately go to bed and will get up sharp by 4.30. The day for me starts from 4.30 in the morning. Generally, I go to sleep at 1.30 or sometimes 2.00 in the night. But, it does not affect my sleep.

    • It is told that too much coffee increases the level of caffeine in blood. Caffeine is not good for sleep.
However, it is mental too. Once one study was done on a group of people to check whether caffeine keeps us awake. For this is study, in a party milk and coffee were served to different people. Party continued till night. Those who were served milk felt sleepy and left early where as who had coffee stayed longer. So you think coffee keeps you awake?
Well, the interesting part of the study is that, the caffeine in the coffee were extracted before serving and that same amount of caffeine was mixed to the milk.
      So it's mental!

      • It could be mental also. Or maybe i just have a mind that doesn't shut off easily. Sometimes i need to bore myself enough to actually fall asleep which is a bit hard. I always have something on my mind and i end up surfing the internet or playing a game. Then i end up staying awake even more time then i should.
