When dreams become reality – SOLITAIRE my dream home

We all have dreams. But dreams should be realistic and  reachable. If for example  you have a dream to fly then you know it is not possible and so frustration sets in.

When I had this dream to design my own home I could see the possibility on the horizon as my husband had bought me a piece of land in a semi rural town.

My dream was to build a house designed by me and have a landscaped garden as I am a landscaped garden designer too.

There were so many issues that I had to deal with which again I knew, with a bit of planning,  they could be dealt with.

-First and foremost I had to convince my husband to shift from the city to a semi rural lifestyle and this conviction was not easy. I had to bring out all the positives against living in a city such as

– there would be no pollution, no traffic, no long cues.

– We would be surrounded by greenery which would be created by me

-We would have a bigger area  with no hassles  against that one faces in a city with society rules and a congested flat size.

-The property would give us ample opportunity to grow our own fruits and vegetables not to talk of flowers, lawns, waterfalls, birdbaths and a clean surrounding.

With this ‘sales’ talk my husband got convinced and game me the go ahead signal with help for financing my dream project.

– I gave up my job and paid full attention to fulfilling my dream – choosing a good supervisor, a reliable engineer and I took the responsibility to supply all materials from A to Z.  I had to travel to and fro atleast 10 times to see to its completion.

The designing took me years – my dustbin getting flooded with waste paper and finally a design was created which satisfied both my husband and me.

We spent another few months choosing a name and finally settled down to name it SOLITAIRE

I was the architect of the project and the engineer took care of the strength of the house.

It took a year for the house to come up. We shifted after selling our flat in the city and once here I worked on the garden, searching for fruit saplings and everything else that would fit in to the design I had for a landscaped garden.

SOLITAIRE has three bedrooms, one on the ground floor and two upstairs. Each bedroom is 10’x 14’ . The kitchen is on the ground floor which opens out to  the dining section of the hall. The kitchen is also 10’x14’ which has a kitchen platform made of granite and wooden closed shelves and an open shelf for keeping small sized utensils.  The buffet table separates the kitchen from the dining area.

The hall is 500 sq. ft which consists of the lounge, entertainment area and dining. There are cupboards instead of walls that separate the utility area from the hall.

There are 3 toilets 2 downstairs and one upstairs

We have been living here since the last twenty five years with not a single day that we could say was boring. The fruit trees are yielding, flowers are blooming, the sound of waterfall is soothing with birds chirping throughout the day frolicking in the bird bath

Shifting to a rural setting is what those who are retired should opt for.

    • how wonderful for you to have already achieved the dream that most people are still waiting for!

    • Too bad you sell your house in the city. You could have rented it out and let the housing price appreciation makes you richer in your retirement.

      • That would have been a very bad choice. Renting it out puts a liability on you for repairs and maintenance and not being there on the spot you can imagine what it means. When money is not the issue for a comfortable retired life one should never add on chores that disturbs a retired life.

    • Dreams come true if the dream are applicable and it is a fact that what we see in dream become real and what we see with our physical eyes are fake and false, none can denies it, ponder over the dream of Joseph proved true and ruminate over the dream of Jacob you will wonder. But human dreams are fake and the result of anxiety and depressions causes may illness.

I dreamt I was at work, standing in a distinct location of the restaurant. This strange feeling swept over me, and I was hit with an intuitive understanding that I was going to be fired.

A coworker of mine approached me and we engaged in conversation about my job status. I then asked her why I was fired. She replied, explaining that the boss's wife was jealous of me and did not want me working there. I woke up, this dream vivid in my mind. It was so realistic and detailed, it lingered in my mind days afterwards.

For whatever reason it was, I went to the distinctive location in the restaurant that I went to in my dream. All of the sudden I felt like a piece of a puzzle that was put in its place. Every detail, every sensation, every inch of my surroundings, perfectly mimicked my dream. This brought on the most intense and overwhelming rush of Deja Vu that I have yet to experience in my life.

I must have looked like I was seeing a ghost or maybe even losing my mind, because at that point in time everything for me froze as my feeble brain scrambled to make sense of it. This was it, I was to be fired!
