Donation is Not Good Strategy for Online Earning

Many people these days are thinking of removing ads from their site. And in due process they are accepting the donation button. And to tell you the truth, that is not working for many of them. And with that in mind, they are coming back to the ads. Many of them are so frustrated with donation option that they think it is not for all the type of thee people who produce content. I have found that there are some of the sites which do accept the donation are working well. One such donation site that I know works well with it is donationcoder. But I have found that many sites which tried to accept donation are now closing. The reason being many people online think donation is same as paying for content. And lot of them don’t want to do such that. In this article, I want to explain why donation is not a good content monetization strategy.

Patreon Donation

Here one can open the donation page using the patreon tools. And you can accept few dollars here and there for working on your skills. For example, graphic designer can use the patreon for it’s scalable work online. Also some can make use of the tutorials online. And this way you can see that they can get the funding out. I have seen people making good amount of money with the patreon. I don’t want to say that it does not work but it does work for many people. But in order for it to work seriously, one has to be a good content creator where they can have lot of users who want to make or learn some skills.

Recurring Revenue

Your expenses for hosting and the money spending is going to be recurring. So your donation also has to some extent come on everyday basis. And that’s where many people find it harder to use the donation acceptance option. You have to consider the point that recurring revenue is not easy with the donation. But some of the people are pulling it out. And they may tell you that it is possible. But in reality that is far from truth. And you have to work harder to understand how the donation options are going to change your life. You can’t be doing that very easily and for long term with donations.

People

Let’s accept the fact that people don’t want to give donation. So you have to understand that you are promoting the website where people find the value. And then they are donating. In between donation based work should be your hobby. You can’t be serious and earn money from it. Because that never worked with many people. In future this may not work with anyone at all. People need to understand the fair play game. Many people on the internet have no money. And they can’t afford to give away the money to others. So they try to do piracy. And in the process they end up ignoring the donation box.

So the next time you are going to ask for the donation, you have to understand where you stand.
