Doctor V/s Death: spot the differences

Hello Everyone!

In my childhood – I was told a statement which was in Sanskrit language. It is so beautiful that I cannot resist sharing. Ok, here is the translation.

“Salutations to the king of doctors, the elder brother of lord of death. Death takes away life but the doctor takes money in addition to life. When looked upon a burning pyre (In India, cremation is a way to perform final rites of the deceased rather than Abrahamic way of burial); the doctor got confused – this is not done by me nor by my brother. Whose hand – pick is this?”

At the very outset, this sounds like a joke. But, based on my knowledge, it is actually true. Well, there are 3 reasons.

First, no matter how much rationalist you are, how much detail oriented you tend to be, how much case sensitive you prefer to be, when it comes to the point of taking medicines, you become a blind follower all of a sudden. No one uses reasoning and logic on the medicine we are supposed to take in case of any illness. Blind belief is dangerous and this is a clear example.

Second, everything is available to the doctor. The best way for your enemy to kill you is to take help from a doctor. If the doctor is bribed, then the doctor becomes your No. 1 enemy. A doctor can inject sleeping pills in your blood OR worst case, can infect you with slow poison.

Third and the last way is most frequent and the most common way these days. This forms the motivation of writing this post. I was seeing a TV commercial where it was realized that a doctor claimed 96% success rate in kidney transplantation. Just to add, global standard is 85% and national average is 62% success rate. So, 96% was unbelievable. This itself was Red Alert zone. While investigating it was observed that they were doing a fraud and actually undergoing a kidney business. Yes, that was to lure customers.

Conclusion

There is only 1 purpose to write this post. As we all know there is some problem in our attitude towards this. We tend to blindly trust doctors. We often have no idea of how scams work and often fall a prey to scams. Present time is dangerous and we need to seriously do away with this. We need to beware and not to take any step which proves fatal in the long run.

    • Every drug a doctor prescribe cures something but destroys something else These drugs have side effects but the doctor is least bothered about it. The quick cure qualifies the doctor to be a good doctor and his 'business' flourishes.

    • You had created a bomb about doctors. I do agree that some doctors are not curing somebody effectively nowadays. The reason, they are so busy deceiving their patients to avail medical services that in fact, are not needed. It is the truth that lingers to the back of their mind. That is, to gain more profit from their patients.

I had once worked in a hospital. I stopped working with them because of what I had mentioned above. It is not a good thing for some doctors to take advantage of their patients. They took advantage the mediocrity of the patients about treatments or any medical regimens claiming to be effective for the patients. I cannot blind myself of seeing this. So I decided to give medical service without payment during my medical mission last 2010. It was the great experience of not deceiving other people.
