DIY Sugar Body Scrub

DIY sugar scrubs seem to be becoming very popular! It generally takes very few ingredients and is actually very good for your skin, not to mention, how smooth and soft your skin will be after you use it! There are TONS of different sugar scrub recipes, and to be honest, they are fairly versatile, and you can add what you want.

For this recipe, you will need:

-1/2 cup sugar (Brown or white, preferably organic sugar)

-1/2 cup oil (coconut oil is really the best, though you could also use olive oil)

– Optional** Essential oils – Your choice. Add your desired amount

-An air-tight jar or container of some sort.

What to do / Steps / Method:

Mix all the above ingredients in a medium sized mixing bowl. Make sure it’s mixed well and thorough!

Once your done mixing, transfer your new sugar body scrub into the air-tight container or jar and seal tightly. You will want to keep your mixture in room temperate conditions.

Use 1 tablespoon of your sugar body scrub as needed, per shower. Remember, sugar scrub will leave your skin silky smooth and feeling amazing, though it does NOT actually cleanse your skin. So, keep that in mind.

With the holidays coming up, this sugar scrub recipe is also a great gift idea! Sometimes we have to be careful giving out perfumed items, due to sensitivity issues or having a reaction to the fragrance. Though, with this recipe, since it uses coconut oil (or olive oil) it can actually be very beneficial for your skin and can help clear any skin irritations as well. Some sugar scrub recipes are actually recommended to those who have eczema or other skin issues, specifically for those who have chronic dry skin. You can also add vitamin E oil to add a bit of extra “boost” to improve your overall skin health.

    • LOL. I'm silly. I don't mind the oils. But I can't stand the thought of putting sugar on me. I'm sweet enough! LOL. :)

    • Sounds great. There's a lot of people who have dry skin. I'm sure they would benefit most from the scrub but if the scrub the skin feeling refreshing then perhaps I'll try the scrubn and see just how effective it is. Thanks for sharing the recipe.

    • I love sugar scrubs. I use them to give myself a facial. I never thought about making my own, although it seems easy to make.

    • I wonder if sugar dissolves in oil, since other items are optional, it will be just sugar and oil. Easy DIY though.
