My tooth pain is back today. As the problem is an impacted wisdom tooth pushing on a nerve, it’s quite an awful pain. It makes all three back molars on the upper left side of my mouth hurt and ache. My surgical consult is scheduled for July 14th and I’ve calmed down a lot about it. I’m hoping within a few weeks of the consult that I’d be able to have the surgery and get it out of the way.
My first experience with the dentist in general was a bad one. My parents never took me until I was 12, just out of sheer neglect. They only took me then because I had a baby tooth break in half and refuse to come out as my adult tooth grew in underneath. The dentist had to pull the baby tooth because it had very deep roots. He did so without any numbing medication though. I guess he thought because it was a baby tooth that it wouldn’t hurt. Well, it hurt a lot! I remember screaming as he tried to rip this half of a tooth out of my mouth. After that, they set me up for a consult to get braces.
That was a disaster! A different dentist handled that and he was a horrid old man. I spent a day with his assistant getting x-rays and impressions of my teeth done in this tiny, hot room in the middle of July. When my parents and I met with him and I said I didn’t want braces, he looked at me and told me “Don’t you want to be pretty?” I already had severe self-esteem issues, I really hadn’t needed him to cause me even more. I still refused the braces and promised my parents I would rip them off my teeth if they put them on.
Now I have a wonderful, gentle dentist who really cares that I’m comfortable. She knows about these past experiences and how they cause me a lot of anxiety about seeing her today. She’s actually helping me a lot with the surgery consult and on surgery day itself (whenever it may be) because of all this anxiety.

I am very sorry to hear your dental traumatic experience. It is indeed terrible to have a toothache. I couldn't remember anymore my first tooth extraction for my aching tooth. What I know is the terrible fear I had had when the dentist positioned herself to extract my defective tooth. I cried by I had no choice but to bear the pain after the anesthesia's effect subsided. I promised myself not to eat more candies and to brush my teeth regularly. But yet, I couldn't keep that promise. Now, I am old. I do have my false teeth for my upper gum.
The worst experience with a dentist is to be injected with a metal syringe. It is an old-type syringe and a traumatic scenario for a child to bear and continued to encourage oneself that I can do it. Eventually, years pass by and modernization changed things up. I started to like the modern way of having dental care from a dentist.

However, wisdom teeth are much more likely to grow in at an incorrect angle – even sideways – causing impaction that can radiate this pain to the teeth in front of it.
But I think that For most, wisdom teeth removal is a good option. Until then, however, you'll need to confront the soreness naturally.
I can understand your problem as I was the one who was forced to pass through conditions very similar to yours. Your parents must have forced the dentist to inject some pain killer medicine.
I dentist drilled my teeth without injecting some pain killer injection. The process caused a lot of pain and I decided to quit that very dentist. I then consulted a new dentist and requested to inject some pain killer medicine before starting his work.
