You sit in front of the computer screen.
You look at a blank page.
Your mind is as empty as that bag you tossed in the garbage. There are no words, no ideas.
You sit and sit. You start this article, delete it, start that one, delete and in terror you do a Search of “Writer’s Block” hoping you’ll find a magic cure.
What To Do?
You can try physical activity. Jogging, callisthenics, football.
You can try housework, maybe cleaning the bathroom will open a few brain cells.
You are afraid to watch a movie or television so as not to rewrite that last episode of Blue Bloods.
Every site which has something about Fighting Writer’s Block gives you lots of things to do until you get your Muse back.
But writing online gives you another option.
A lucrative option.
Networking
Start with your early articles and begin networking . Try everything, from Stumble Upon to to Redditt. Try Bebo, looklater, Pando, Redgage, and Rollyo.
Sure, there may not be many users of those sites, but if you can get five views, well, that is five views.
Search to learn if there are forums which touch your topic. Post about it.
Reread/rewrite
Before you network, you probably reread your early item. Many times you’ll think; “hey, this isn’t good..” And then you’ll think, “I could do better now.”
So do it.
Copy that item and rewrite it. Change it. You’ve had so much experience in writing since you posted that article it is the difference between writing a biography about Harriet Tubman when you were in Primary School, and writing a biography about Harriet Tubman in your senior year of High School.
Yes, the items are both about the same person, but your ability, your skill, your way of gathering facts has improved.
You can rewrite that item, (making sure to change every sentence and adding new facts) and publish it elsewhere without the slightest touch of ‘plagiarism.’
No, you haven’t fully defeated Writer’s Block, but you have kept writing and are networking. And it is that Networking which will bring you the coin.
You can’t make money if you do not get views. By networking you may bring in more views.
Yes, when you are at full power, you can’t stop and begin a labourious networking frenzy. But when your Muse has deserted you, it’s the smartest move. And the most financially beneficial.
After a short time of networking and rewriting, your muse will return.
You will realise that when you rewrote that item you’ve just reposted you left out an entire realm that you could explore.
So here comes another article or two inspired by just rereading your previous work.
And there goes Writer’s Block.
