Countdown to the Rio Olympics 2016 : What to expect?

This year, we had the Twenty-20 world cup cricket. Then, we have had the exciting Euro 2016 Football, where Portugal won the crown for the first time, beating France 1-0 in the finals.
Now, comes one of the biggest(or is it the biggest)sporting event which has seen records being made and broken.
Athletes and Sports Persons, coaches and captains prepare for and wait for this event to achieve that Medal, which will make them a hero, not only for their own nations, but for the whole world.
Yes, this is Olympics, and this year, these Olympics are to be held in one of the most popular South American cities- Rio De Janerio in Brazil from 5th to 21st August 2016.

The organization of this event has seen many issues being raised and controversies. Many have complained that the hosting of Olympics will lead to a massive economic burden and debt on the economy of Rio.
There have been protests and strikes, but the show is on, even with Brazil facing certain economic issues.
Now, as far as the Olympics are concerned my main areas of interests are Hockey, Shooting, wrestling and Boxing, where India can get medals, as well as Tennis.
Then, the Athletics events- Men’s and Women’s 100, 200, 400 M and some more races see records being broken and made many times.
Usain Bolt, Chris Lewis etc such names come to our mind.
There have been some great players in Swimming as well.
I also recall the Bronze medal won by Leander Paes in Tennis in 1996, Rajyavardhan Singh Rathore(now a minister in Indian Union Government)in shooting in 2004, and medals won by Indian athletes in 2008 and 2012.
It is also exciting to watch various swimming and diving events, Equestrian, Canoeing, Decathlon, Fencing, Weight-Lifting etc.
Also, if one gets to see things regarding the Olympics Games Village and offline activities, it adds to the excitement.

    • WE, in Jamaica, expect great things from our athletes. We are not as concerned about Zika as other countries are because we already have Zika.

    • It seem as though an event of that magnitude would produce a better economy. Having anything Olympic related could generate some future attractions for Rio or any othe rlocation that Olympic events are held. By Rio choosing to allow those events to take place. They're basically saying that it could be could for Rio. Even if there's some issues there's some good out of hosting those activities. All should go well.

    • hope all is going to be fun for any country will sahre in the games and good luck but i dont like to go brasil, life is so pricey there and flight and the people i met here from brasil were arrogant, so i will see it online or on tv better, i will save money and will not be annoyed if i met people there like the people that i met here.
good luck to any body will go and waste money on the flights, and pricey hotels also
