Controlling Cholesterol naturally

Most who are taking pills for controlling cholesterol know all about what bad cholesterol does to one’s health and they also know what healthy parameters are.

Tablets control cholesterol but the doctors do not tell you what these tablets do to one’s body. Tablets taken to control cholesterol affect the muscles and weaken them. Painful muscles are also the result of taking these pills.

When the muscles weaken the load is taken by the joints which in turn collapse and we all know what the consequences of collapsed joints are.

Cholesterol can be kept in check naturally by a proper diet and a change in one’s lifestyle.

Here are a few suggestions:

1. Walnuts, mackerels, sardine, cod liver capsules and a few other nuts are loaded with omega 3 which is the  secret to keep cholesterol in check.

2. Eating  fibrous foods like oats –  they clean the system.

3. Drinking red wine which have anti oxidants  help increase the HDL to good cholesterol.

4. Exercising  is yet another way to increase HDL

5. Proper  bowl movement is essential for which fibrous vegetables and fruits is the answer.

Increasing the HDL levels and taking care to reduce the triglycerides and LDL levels is the way to go. Periodic  checks atleast once a year are recommended.

Those who are already having high levels they should continue taking tablets until the levels become normal and then resort to natural measures.

What one should avoid is

1.eating fatty food such as deep fried

2. consuming too much alcohol

3. Although eggs are a healthy diet one could restrict taking them specially the yolk which contains high levels of LDL.

4. panicking  confuses a person not knowing which direction to take.

In The final analysis all what one needs to do is to have a lifestyle that is moderate in all respects. A life of contentment with whatever one has is the secret to happiness. And when one is contented surprisingly the cholesterol levels are seen behaving themselves.

    • I never paid attention to cholesterol levels until my husband had a heart attack. I wish I had paid attention sooner. Still! He has changed his diet and is on medication now. It's helping.

      • Once normal levels are reached through medication just a lifestyle change can keep it in check. Drugs have side effects.

    • Cholesterol is also a major problem among men and women all over the world but I think it becomes due to over dieting at homes or in parties. Now I tell you what is cholesterol:
Cholesterol is a white, waxy substance that is produced by animals and is present in foods like brains, egg yolks and meats like kidney and pate. Most people take in about 1 gram of cholesterol every day. The body also makes its own cholesterol; it forms an important part of cell structure and is necessary for the production of various hormones.

Triglyceride is the other main type of fat. It is found in both animal and plant foods, and we take in about 100 grams each day. The bulk of the animal fat in our diet is in the form of triglycerides. Despite this, people still talk about the amount of cholesterol in our diet as if it is a big issue. Our main concern is the total intake of animal fat.

The fat in our diet is an entirely different matter to the level of the fats in the blood. The blood cholesterol level is more important than the triglyceride level when it comes to the risk of coronary artery disease. However, after many years of looking like an innocent bystander, an elevated triglyceride level is now considered to be an additional risk factor.

The good news is that high cholesterol is treatable with safe and effective medication, dietary changes and exercise. The best news? Tweaking your health habits can make you feel and look better—fast!
