Congee water a cure for acidity

In the good old days most households here survived on   congee for breakfast in the mornings.  Little did the elders knew  about the benefits of congee and the kids then just did not like congee as there were some  households where  children were fed with delicious goodies for breakfast. 

It is only now – thanks to the Internet – what  marvels congee does to one’s health has shown up . 

These days one  longer eats congee for breakfast as most households have got  into the habit of introducing a variety of food items for breakfast.  But boiled rice is eaten during lunch or dinner.

Boiled rice is cooked in a pressure cooker and the watere is drained out. It is this water that is known as congee water  

For those with a weak stomach and those suffering from acidity congee  water can cure the condition. It could be used in soups too.

As is the case with any new discovery that takes years for it to be accepted   same is the case  with congee water. Patients with acidity will go for drugs rather than drink this simple yet effective marvel.  

There is proof   what congee can do. Whenever one eats  spicy food or citrus fruits the  esophgus burns  which is an indication that the stomach has more acids than are needed that causes acidity.  A glass of congee water taken immediately after food cools the stomach and the burning disappears and so does acidity.   Neglecting this symptom can lead to stomach ulcers and those with these symptoms could  be  victims of GERD – Gastroesophageal Reflux Disease  It is a digestive disorder that affects the lower esophageal sphincter (LES), which lies between the stomach and the esophagus. Gastroesophageal reflux occurs when the LES is weak resulting in acids reaching the esophagus which starts burning.

It is not easy for anyone who loves to eat spicy food to give that up but taking congee water whenever spicy food is taken could be a saviour . 

 

Congee is a poor man’s meal but a rich man’s cure.

      My mom used to boil porridge soup, the thick white water that looks like glue, and made me drink it up when I had flu. Well it sure clear up my block nose and I was alive again!

      Now, I do make porridge with more water so that my kids could drink them up.
      Then, they won't be asking for iced water when eating meal
