Confession Of A Heavy Chain Smoker

I quitted smoking 15 years ago—since then I never look back or think to ever smoke again. I stop smoking abruptly not gradually as other people are doing.

The primary reason why I stopped smoking was that my dad died of lung cancer due primarily to smoking. He was diagnosed six months before he died 15 years ago of stage 4 lung cancers. Yes, it was really too late for him.

That incident was an eye opener to me. Before I quit smoking I used to smoke 3-4 packs of cigarettes a day. Smoking is really addicting. It may really be too late to know that you are indeed hooked on it.

Aside from the health concerns and issue that goes with smoking, it is expensive nowadays. Remember how to wisely use money—instead of buying and wasting your money on cigarettes, you can use your money for some essential things or goods such as food or just simply save the money for some rainy days.

For some, smoking is really a hard habit to break. But not all hopes are lost. Just like any other human habits, the same could be unlearned. It is a matter of mental conditioning and physical discipline on our part.

When I told myself to stop smoking I stop smoking right there and then. I said to myself that I will not get hold of any cigarette sticks again because there always a temptation that the moments that you get hold of any cigarette sticks, for sure you’ll be tempted to light it and the habit for sure will going to return back.

I see to it that I always closed my hand (turn it into a fists) to disable me from touching any cigarettes during the first few days, weeks and months that I’m quitting.
Days turn into weeks, and weeks turn into months and months turn into years that I never ever touch or light any cigarettes and I never smoke cigarettes until this very day.

I’m thankful that I quit smoking.

    • i dont like smoking but to be honest there are other type like shisha, its awesome, but it does do bad to your body, so i am against smoking but from time to time is fine, because smoking is addict and its not fair to make people stop it only because you dont like ,it buy needs to make it limited for respecting other people around you, i think its good that there are places for non smokers and area for smokers too, so the balance is there and no body is forced in anything

    • Congrats for that victory over a deadly vice, smoking! It is not only dangerous to the smoker himself, but to people around him who can inhale the smoke; they are called second-hand smoker which health experts say is more affected by that smoke.

I hate the smell of cigarettes too, because I know it is very dangerous to our health, especially to women. It is right that the government is banning smoking in enclosed establishments and other public areas.
