Everyone has a reason to go on holidays. For many it is to get away from it all. I doubt a thought will ever occur to them about collecting shampoo bottles as a remembrance of their holidays living in various hotels. One needs to be creative to know their intrinsic value 😀 They would rather spend their time eating, drinking and making merry. But for me a holiday is a pleasure trip enjoying each and every aspect of it. As you know, it does cost a fortune to go on a foreign holiday and most will wonder why I consider those shampoo bottles as something to take back home.
Those tiny neat looking things are not to be found anywhere in the world except in 5 star hotels. Got it? They are custom made and each hotel has a stamp on them. They come in various shapes and sizes each having a different perfume too.
It was a mission really of sorts. The moment we go in to our room the first thing I do is pick up those shampoo bottles. I get my own shampoo from home. The next day the cleaning staff will replenish the stock without asking any questions. This is how I go about. A package holiday involves several hotels giving me opportunities galore.
The empty bottles now adorn my show case and each time I look at each of them individually, my thoughts go back to that hotel – the food they served, the ambiance in general, the garden with flowers, and relive the time we spent there. Each hotel has its individuality just like these shampoo bottles.
The shape of these shampoo bottles the colour scheme everything blends with the decor of the hotel – hard to believe. But it is true.
We take pictures while on holiday. That everyone does but the shampoo bottles memorabilia is a different story. So next time you go on holiday don’t forget the shampoo bottles.
My advice is not to go beyond collecting shampoo bottles – it is obnoxious to say the least. I heard some swipe towels and stuff – that is called robbery.

My mother is one who also collects all the toiletries when she travels. She saves them up to give to the children when they need to go away for a few days on a field training exercise, or what have you, rather than keeping them as a souvenir.
I can understand the appeal, though! I used to always collect brochures, playbills, and postcards when I visited somewhere. I had a huge stack of these at one point. I later shifted my focus to bookmarks, which this bibliophile found much more useful. I had a little goldfish bowl full of fancy bookmarks I'd bought when I shopped for books :)
