Any holiday, specially abroad costs quite a penny. Even if it is a package tour one needs to have a companion while travelling. If there is already a life partner the question of looking for a companion does not arise.
There are several advantages if there is a companion. The room can be shared and that reduces the cost. Then there are situations where pairing is called for such as occupying a two seater cable car and so on. Even dividing food that is bought off the counter could save a few pennies.
There could be disappointments and therefore it is necessary that questions are asked before launching on this journey.
A friend of mine had a very bad experience. They were friends and thought they would both be great companions for each other. They shared a room. Sadly one was a morning person and the other stayed awake late into the night. Both had discomfort trying to please each other.
Her friend never wanted to spend but expected to have a share in whatever my friend bought.
Then there was this question of choosing optionals. To her horror she realized her friend never wanted to go on optional sightseeing which meant my friend had to do it alone or not take part. There was this Opera she so wanted to watch in Sydney but could not as her partner was not interested.
All in all my friend returned disappointed.
It is therefore imperative that the companion should atleast have some common interests, spend where spending is required, both sleep and wake up at the same time, be on time and not take hours and keep the other one waiting. It helps a lot if both have the same eating habits. Having a helping nature goes a long way in case of emergencies.

I agree! Travelling with a wrong companion can ruin all the fun. One must travel with someone who has similar habits and interests.
I had that bad experience once (lol)
Actually they would have a greater experience if they had talked about it before they go on a trip.
They assumed wrongly that the other party has the same habit.
