When I had gallstones, I was recommended to eat broadbeans since I had problems with eating meats , probably got to do with the acid and indigestion of meat stuff.
Since then, broadbeans had became one of my regular ingredients for our family weekdays meal.
It is not difficult to think of any recipe out of a blue for stir fried broadbeans.
One of my Reciplay is Stir Fried Shrimps with Broadbeans, a simple and delicious homemade recipe that you don’t have to mess up your kitchen.
This vegetable recipe is crunchy, healthy and appealing, pleased to see on the dining table which is very inviting.
The combination of 2 simple ingredients; namely the shrimps and the broadbeans, brought a crunchy and flavorful meal that even my kids started to like broadbeans too.
The seasoning was my brainy idea; a combination of light soy sauce, oyster sauce and Chinese cooking wine to enhance a delicious flavor, without using salt at all.
I am trying to cut down on salt in my daily recipes because we all know that salt is the main cause for high blood pressure, heart attacks and high cholesterol level.
Hence, replacing salt with light seasoning is the best alternative to keep the recipes as appetizing as before.
Broadbeans are not locally planted.
Hence, I had to buy broadbeans whenever there is an offer at the Jusco Hypermarket.
I had waited for the member day where Jusco members are given the opportunity to but groceries at lower price and save money.
The broadbeans was on sale, bought 2 bags and a bag of shrimps early in the morning where the heads are still attached to the bodies.
By mid afternoon, the shrimps smell “pHew” that you wouldn’t want to buy them even there is an offer.
The broadbeans itself have hard texture.
Hence, you will need to bring half pot of water to boil, briefly wash the broad beans before tossing into the pot to cook them.
Add in a little salt for seasoning and boil until the beans had soften.
It will take a longer time to stir fry the broadbeans in order to cook them.
Might as well pre-boil them first in order to cook the dish faster.
If you want a meatless broadbean recipe, replace the shrimps with mushrooms and carrots or tofu instead!

I think we don't have broadbeans here. But I like the idea of substituting the shrimps with tofu, because I don't like the taste of the shrimp sauteed. I just like it fried.
Besides, at home, we seldom cook those with beans because my father-in-law has arthritis. Lately, my hubby's uric acid has gone up, and I think it is not good to eat for him.
