Can’t get rid of Junk Food! Kettle’s Lightly Salted Potato Crisps review

What is the ultimate junk food you can’t live without?

Over the past years, I tried my best to live a healthier lifestyle. That means, trying to eat more fruits and vegetables, drinking at least 8 glasses of water daily, and cutting down on junk food. Despite my conscious efforts to ditch the junk, I find it so hard to ultimately give it up despite not having any nutritional value to my body, even as a snack. Humans are humans, after all. So we are meant to be hard-headed and do what’s not right, right? LOL!

Kettle’s Lightly Salted Potato Crisps

I’d say that I am about 80% successful on my initiative to live a healthier lifestyle and get rid of junk food. But if the cravings occur, I give in and open a bag – eek! This made me try to look for the healthy-ish junk food (is there such a thing?!) and led me to Kettle’s Lightly Salted Potato chips.

I still buy my bag of cheetos every now and then but I buy these lightly salted option more (once a month). My husband also prefers this as he likes the aftertaste of salted potatoes so it is a great alternative if there’s no french fries around. Not to mention that he doesn’t like overly salty or cheesy junk food (like me) so this one is an absolute winner!

Unlike other potato crisps around, Kettle’s are thinly cut. There is another Irish brand of potato chips that has the similar marketing ploy as Kettle’s but we don’t buy it since we find the cut too thick making the crisps a little bit difficult ot chew.

Kettle’s packaging is also nice. The foil wrap is a little bit thicker if you compare with the other potato crisps. I also like that there’s no cheesy mascot drawing on the packaging making this bag of crisps a little bit more mature-looking or suitable for adults.

Each potato pieces are crunchy and I never experienced opening a bag to discover crumbs inside. Most of the chips are kept intact and it is really lightly salted. So there’s only a trace of salt when you eat this crisp. Apart from that, each piece is really a potato – not the very synthetic version we see from other crisps around!

Unlike the other alternatives in the groceries, this is a little bit more expensive. The 150 g bag costs €3.50. With the quality of the crisps and the nice packaging, I think the pricing is acceptable but I rarely buy it on a regular price. Well, unless the craving is really bad, of course! I usually buy it on sale and that is another great tactic to make sure I never buy crisps regularly!

Overall, I really love Kettle’s Lightly Salted Potato Crisps and this has been my alternative junk food option when I want to eat crisps. I have bought it a number of times before (on sale) and would buy it again in the future!
