Bullying

Most kids experience bullying at some time in their life unfortunately. Growing up, I experienced it to an extreme level all the way up until high school. The bullies were not only fellow students but teachers as well as I got older! It began very early on when I was only 5 years old and did a lot of damage to my self esteem. As I got older, it only got worse.

It began the day the school secretary’s daughter asked to borrow my glue stick in kindergarten. When I went to ask for it back, the teacher got me in trouble for talking. I remember the grin on the girl’s face when she realized she could get me in trouble. From then on, I was the target of what I can only call her evilness. Being the school secretary’s daughter – she never got in trouble for anything and won every contest held at school.

By third grade, things were out of control. I was beaten up at school almost every day and even thrown into a bee infested bathroom after being jumped by all the girls in my class. In fourth grade, I transferred to a different school where I hoped things would be different, but they weren’t. My mom became ill and neglectful – I was teased constantly for my dirty clothes and such. By junior high, things got worse and even teachers joined in!

In junior high I was severely bullied by a school counselor. I disclosed to her abused I was experiencing and had suffered in the past…and she used it against me. She branded me a liar and told all my teachers that I wasn’t honest. After that, no one believed a word I said. The counselor herself verbally abused me. She said she wouldn’t save me from an alcoholic family situation because no one saved her when she was a kid. She called my mom and falsely told her I was suicidal. She even supported a boy who wrote a hate note against me and another who sexually harassed me. Shortly after graduating 8th grade I had my first nervous breakdown and ended up hospitalized.

Looking back, that’s no surprise. I’d been through two years of near daily bullying and abuse. Constantly told I was a liar and the abuse I was reporting could’ve never happened. I was such a mess that I never fully recovered and ended up going to an alternative school for high school. Today, one of the issues I still work on in therapy is the bullying I experienced.

    • Bullies are really a menace to the society. It is also sad that some people whom we thought can help us joined into tagged names on you. There is always a bad karma. It will return back to them big time.

    • Bullies are found everywhere on earth at home, at schools, at street and even in bazars and markets. Sometimes peoples at home bullies are present who make you afraid jokingly but I think it leaves a bad effect on the children's character since childhood.

I have observed that those at afraid of bullies at home or at schools when such people grow up they are lack of confidence due to childhood scary. Those who practice these habits must stop anon anywhere on earth because it is a danger to the children's mental heath.

At school the teachers must eye on such students so that the atmosphere of the class may not be disturbed. Sometimes bullies' bad behavior lead fighting among the small children because such persons are very bold since childhood and they react anon against the bullies and slap the bully's face.

Such persons must ban in the school to keep the atmosphere of the school effective education wise and discipline wise.
