Breakfast Cereals: Weetabix Weetos Review

I am not a fan of overly and super sweet breakfast cereals. That’s the reason why I prefer to have plain corn or bran flakes as our breakfast cereal (to mix with some freeze dried fruits we buy separately packed from Amazon) instead of the colorful fruit loops or rice crispies. However, I believe even the most health-conscious person in the planet gets tired eating the “good stuff”. That’s why the term “cheat day” gets in the picture in the first place, right?
In our case, there are days when eating plain flavored cereals can feel like eating from direct from the cardboard. And when I feel like we are on the brink of too much “bland” cereal options, I try to be reasonable with our food choices and moderate.

I feel like Weetabix brand is synonymous to “healthy cereal” – but only if you buy the whole grain wheat cereal option. But despite knowing that it is “probably” the healthiest cereal option in the groceries these days, I don’t buy it. To me, Weetabix’s wholegrain wheat cereal tasted like eating boxes that’s why I only buy from this brand if I am buying Weetos. I usually buy Weetos as our “cereal cheat” if I am looking for a sweeter cereal. I thought that if Weetabix is a go-to brand for healthier cereal options, then Weetos can’t be too bad! Right?

I also like the fact that even if these are basically chocolate hoop cereals, each bite is not too sweet. Every piece is crunchy and I have never seen a damaged box or a box filled with cracked hoops! It doesn’t just taste good – it is also good value for money. Especially if I got lucky buying a box on a weekend where Tesco has it on specials, a box can last us a good 2 to 3 months since we eat it alternately with a bowl of porridge.

I also prefer to buy this over Nestle or Kellogg’s simply because of the huge price difference! A 400g box of Weetabix’s Weetos has the same price tag as a 250g Nestle Koko crunch cereal! I mean, it doesn’t taste different to me. And I prefer that it is not overwhelmingly sweet in comparison to other chocolate cereal options. It is a chocolate cereal after all so as long as it tastes like chocolate, I am not bummed whether it is shaped like hoops or like mini cereal bowls!

Overall, I am really happy with Weetos and have bought it a lot of times when I am craving for something different. Probably the only problem I have is that I haven’t seen a smaller box for this, like a 250g box similar to Koko Krunch, so when I ended up buying a pack of nappy or toilet paper with it, I can expect a very bulky grocery bag! But then, that’s just a small problem. With all the good things it brings – it ain’t too bad!
