The weather is getting colder now.
Constant rainy day for weeks, we are reluctant to eat out, prefer to stay at home for home cooked food which I was pleased to hear.
This Bowtie Pasta Salad is one of my favorite pasta salad recipe that I had often whip up for weekends.
Sometimes, I would prepare extra bowl of this pasta salad for my neighbor who doesn’t cook when none of her family members were at home.
This salad recipe is ideal for a quick lunch, teatime snack, midnight snack and even light dinner for one person.
Bowtie pasta is my son’s favorite pasta. He prefers this ribbon shape pasta compare to spaghetti .
Although bowtie pasta takes a longer time to cook , it turns out chewy and makes one tummy fuller , less messy because you don’t have to slurp like the spaghetti noodles.
Just add in a few simple to get ingredients from your fridge, some cooked ham or hotdogs, chives and Parmesan cheese, you can have your salad meal ready in 10 minutes or less!
Bowtie pasta of any brand will do.
Approximately 1 medium bowl of bowtie pasta is sufficient for 3-4 persons.
Cook pasta as per packet instructions but it will take longer than the usual spaghetti or any other pasta.
It taste better, chewy and fuller.
When the Bowtie pasta is cooked, it will turned softer , less yellow and bigger in size.
I had chose red pepper ( also known as sweet pepper/bell pepper) for more nutrients and it taste sweet naturally.
You can add in slices or cubes of carrots or pumpkins for more flavor.
3-4 slices of cooked ham are sold in the supermarket.
Lightly toast the ham with butter in the oven or frying pan.
Cut into squares and ready to eat.
Alternatively, you can steam the ham for 5 minutes.
I love Parmesan cheese, simply delicious and cheap.
You can try block cheddar cheese, just grate them with a grater and chopped them up.
Noticed that I don’t use salad dressing?
Yes, I wanted a low fat dressing which original yogurt flavor suited best for this pasta salad recipe.
I had also used low fat mayonnaise which blended well with yogurt.
Since the cold weather had hit the clouds, isn’t it the best time to have a nice quick Bowtie Pasta Salad for a quick lunch or dinner?
Serve immediately
