Books and reading is a gifts for us.

To read – it’s not just a joy to spend interesting a spare time. Literature develops individually and universally, brings up the conscious, active and empathic person. Careful reading, filled with gratitude and rational criticism, is an opportunity to get acquainted with thinking, acting and different ways of life, belong to such time and space, where we have not been, did not live, what we did not know.

To dive between the pages of books, between the lines and between the linguistic, cultural, religious or social differences – it’s to discover the world’s multiple perspectives, to experience our connection with a people, communities and societies, which we have never directly knew. We share the world with them. With each book page, lives of these people supplement our world with novelty, clarity and knowledge.

Yes, reading is like a meditation for me. Ideally, reading we dive deeply, we lose ourselves, but only in order once again to come back into ourselves – already different ones, who have became a part of a new, enlarged world. Our thinking and action opens for a new criticality and awareness. All of this is our, active citizens of the world, property.

While reading, we feel other people pain and joy, looking at the expanse and extremes of the human existence, we learn how to live in this world and make it the most cozy place. No any political system will not work unless there will be human activity and sensitivity – in order to learn this, we must first learn to read. Not only books.

Perhaps it’s the only way to unravel the global confusion who we really are.

Reading reveals our skills needed for our steady growing, moving forward, maturation, strengthens the human being and our ethical obligations to live among those who are forever different from us.

Books are the tools, the means to help identify other stories, feats and experiences. It gives us the way to live in our own way without harming the freedom of others, without rough prejudices, assumptions and with a critical alive vision.

    • A well written article about what one can acquire when he or she reads books. There are books of different genre to choose from depending on the taste and requirement of the individual and the kind of information one is seeking to implement the same in his life. Books are a repository and a fountain of knowledge and wisdom which one can gain reading them in the privacy of his home or in a library. Books are also required and read by many for the purpose of writing competitive exams in which they have to excel to get admission in a place of study or placements in a job.

What one gets from reading books is information which is neatly arranged, which one can correlate with his or her situation or position in life at that particular moment and to look at avenues of bettering what he or she is capable of doing after acquiring the knowledge from the books. They are the best friends who are not over bearing and who are there by your side whatever the situation or position you may be in. They never runaway and leave you in the lurch. One can argue saying that they do not have a life and are inanimate. That may be right, but they have the capacity to change the life of the person reading them by providing wisdom which will help one make best choices in life.

    • The preferences of a person when it comes to books varies. That's because people have different interests and likes.

When I was in high school my love for books was intense. I read Nancy Drew , Reader's Digest and Mills and Boons. The teener in me gave me the interest on love stories.

In college, it changed. I read lots of John Grisham's Sidney Sheldon and thriller and mystery books.

They ebb when I was already working. Night life is what substituted my reading.

Then, came myLot, Bubblews and this. My reading has now been changed to writing.

But still I am fond of reading those posts that can help me in terms of health and how I can be a better person.

No more extra time now to read. Maybe someday when I retire, my love for reading will resurface.
