In Malaysia, you could find the common white radish sold in the
market but Western countries, both the white and red
radish are sold for different cooking purposes.
White radish is also known as “Daikon” or “Daikon Radish
Generally, white radish is a tuber vegetable, white smooth skin and
white flesh too.
It grows underground just like carrots, long green leaves, large
tuber with lots of bitter juice compare to carrots.
Grows well under tropical weather.
White radish may appear hard , firm by touching it but it is soft
when cooked in water based recipes.
Literally, the internal flesh is hard but once boil in water, it turn soft
as tofu.
White Radish taste raw, bland and a little bitter.
Hence, it is best cooked with soup or stew with seasoning as radish
absorbs flavor very quickly.
Some people love to add shredded white radish into salads but I
prefer mine in soups or mixed with Croaker fish stew.
Local Chinese people prefer to steam cakes with white radish or stir
fry radish with eggs and clams.
White radish is considered as a winter food because it is naturally
cold in nature.
The juice itself helps to detoxify toxin in the body which is best
blend in fruit blender with other vegetables .
Ah, this is something that you should know and consume often to
prevent the following ailments:
Radish in far better than anti-biotic.
It is an anti-congestion ingredient to help you to reduce phlegm in
your respiratory system, especially the nose and throat where
accumulated phlegm is thicken causing allergies and infections.
Consuming radish juice helps to loosen the phlegm and protect
your respiratory system from inflammation.
Say good bye to painkillers. Don’t rely on over the counter
medications too often.
Try drinking radish juice , blend in a fruit juice blender, add in some
honey and drink it 3x a day.
It helps to reduce your body temperature and promote urination to
relieve fever infections in your body.
If you are having constipation, you are more likely to experience
piles problems.
Piles are torn tissues at the anus where it becomes swollen,
infected with bacteria.
Radish helps to soothe your digestive system by producing fiber
and soluble water in facilitate soft stool.
Hence, it will promote water in your digestive system, reduce
constipation and relieve the piles symptoms.
5. Radish helps to detoxify your liver and stomach by flushing out
the toxin in your body.
6. My mother in law said that white radish soup is good for
purifying blood, making new blood cells and reduce the damages of
red cells.
7. Whether it makes senses or not, I do find that after drinking the
soup, I don’t feel so heaty and not so greasy tummy.
Anyway, radish is cold in nature, so consuming it on hot
weather should benefit your body by relieving the heat.

This is a food I am not familiar with although I'm sure it not only has great health benefits but taste good too. I've seen Ming Tsai, the popular Asian-American TV chef, use this ingredient in some of his recipes.
They say that radish can be eaten raw. My friend also extracts it's juice and drink it as is without any ingredients or flavorings.Is there any difference with the health benefits we get when it is eaten cooked or uncooked?
