Bangladesh embarrassed Pakistan in CWC 1999

In the 29th match of the ICC cricket world cup, Bangladesh was against the Pakistani team. This game was played on County Ground, Northampton, England on 31st May, 1999.

Both teams were playing very good cricket, so we can expect to see a great game between these two Asian nations. Pakistan won the toss and opts to bowl first so this means Bangladesh will bat first and set target for Pakistan to chase later in the match. Bangladesh started well and were no loss for 50 runs in 10 over’s and they lost their 1^st wicket at the team score of 69 runs in 15.3 over’s in the form of M Hossain. But Bangladesh was not able to capitalize on good start and were only able to make 223 runs in 50 over’s at the loss of 9 wickets. A khan top scored with 42 runs in 66 balls with 6 4’s and strike rate of 64 runs in 100 balls and S Hossain made 39 runs in 60 balls with 5 4’s and strike rate of 65 runs in 100 balls.

Pakistan was required to make 224 runs in 50 over’s to win this game.

Pakistan started very miserably and were 5 wickets down for only 42 runs in 12.3 over’s. Paksitan kept losing wickets and were bowled out for only 161 runs in 44.3 over’s and only Azhar mahmood and skipper Wasim akram top scored with 29 runs each in 61 and 52 balls respectively.

Bangladesh won the game by 62 runs and Khaled Mahmud was the man of the match for his fine bowling and 3 wickets in 10 over’s by conceding only 31 runs  and also scoring 27 runs as well.
