Bad Foods To Feed Your Kids

Children’s’ diet is deteriorating everyday.

Not only in America but the whole world is invaded with bad foods which are unhealthy for kids.

It is indeed the sad that the manufacturers and big companies are consuming the lion’s share of the world’s food, are grossly inducing deficiency in nutrients for kids’ diets.

Parents are feeding themselves and their kids with large amount of  junk food which is harming their health.

This is caused by excessive amount of sugar, refined starches, saturated fats and sodium contained in our daily diets.

Most bad foods take away our appetites for healthy foods, rot kids’ growing teeth, increasing obesity problems and inducing health problems such as diabetes, cardiovascular diseases and stroke at early age.

Most countries are mushrooming of fast food restaurants and snack bars alluring kids to feed on sweet and high calories foods.

There is too much consumption of sodium and saturated fats in processed fast foods that increased the cholesterol level.

Some good examples are:

  • potato chips
  • corn chips
  • dried fruits
  • cereals with honey
  • burgers
  • pizzas
  • cookies
  • crackers
  • finger foods

These and other similar snacks are highly loaded with salt and sugar tainted.

We as parents or caregiver to our kids, should keep junk foods out of our homes, out from sight and do everything we can to keep our kids healthy and strong.

Here are the Bad Foods that you should know not to feed your kids

#1 – Cookies, cakes, crackers and pastries

These sweet and tasty foods are quick to satisfy any crying, whining and hungry child’s appetite in a minute.

However, by offering him these bad foods, you are not giving him any minerals, vitamins or protein to this innocent child.

These foods are labelled as “deprived” foods.

They cheat kids by making them feel fed while they are soiling the child’s appetite for healthy food that may taste different.

Do not start feeding your child with cookies, cakes, crackers or pastries at home when it is not necessary.

#2 – High sweetened foods

  • Jellies
  • sweetened fruit jams
  • canned fruits ( cocktail drinks )

These bad foods are quick to satisfy the child’s appetite too.

They also favor in child’s obesity and tooth decay at early stage.

Give your kids cereals and fruits WITHOUT sugar coating.

Original, fresh cut fruits and non-sugar cereals are healthier for your kids although they may taste not as sweet as pre-packed.

It is best habit not to serve fruity jams in the jar with bread for breakfast.

Occasionally, serve your kids with canned fruits WITH the whole family because everyone is having it, not your kid ALONE.

Discard the syrup in the canned fruit, serve the canned fruits with salads, or mix the fruits with fresh fruit juice instead.

In addition, remind your child to brush teeth after meals.

#3- Candies, sodas and sundaes

Do not use candies, sodas or sundaes as a “reward” or treats when your kid is being good, scored great results in exam or performed well in something.

Kids often eat these sweet foods between meals or before mealtime, which bring worst effect on their appetite and teeth decay.

It is wise to avoid sweets between meals and even after meals.

Candies and sweets are particularly highly suspecting to be the cause of teeth decay because it keeps the tongue sucking the candy with mouth close, coating the teeth with sugar.

It is alright to have ice-cream with the rest of the family members, remember don’t give a cone or a tub of ice-cream for your child ALONE.

The best way to keep your kid away from sweet foods is:

Not having candies, sodas and sundaes around the home

Always educate your child about the bad effects of sweets to the child’s teeth and make it a home rule against these bad foods.

    • London Swiss roll? I try not to give sweets, biscuits and chocolate to my kids. However, still will prepare these kind of ready Swiss roll , but in other favour like Pandan, strawberry for the kids during travel or when they came out from the swimming pool in their swimming class.
The is the fast and most easy way that I able to think of.
Off course, I do prepare my own baked bread for them.
What to prepared for my girl during her morning school break is always make me headache. I try to make five different food for five school day per week as possible, but it is not a easy task, I would say.
I try to buy bread, make her pan cake, steam rice, fried noddles, with some fruits, like apple, orange, peer, grapes, and even nuts.
However, it is another routine the following week. Hehe!

    • All this could down to the parents what do they eat in the presence of their children, because what you eat is what the child would want to eat so the parents have to be the ones giving or showing a good example from the start. When kids are trained to eat healthy nothing will make them want to live the healthy living for junk food coz they know what would happen. Everything that you have shared is definitely a keeper we all went out kids to grow up healthy no one wants a child who is obese or is suffering from some kind disease.

    • All of these junk foods are not ideal for the kids to eat. However, we can give them a treat once in a while. Some parents cannot resist the cravings of their children. It should be always with limitations for such junk foods. In some instances, the parents can make healthy snacks for the kids.

    • Yes in markets there are many foods that are not suitable for kids keeping in mind kids' health. t's no surprise that parents might need some help understanding what it means to eat healthy. From the MyPlate food guide to the latest food fad, it can be awfully confusing.

The good news is that you don't need a degree in nutrition to raise healthy kids. Following some basic guidelines can help you encourage your kids to eat right and maintain a healthy weight.

You decide which foods to buy and when to serve them. Though kids will pester their parents for less nutritious foods, adults should be in charge when deciding which foods are regularly stocked in the house. Kids won't go hungry. They'll eat what's available in the cupboard and fridge at home. If their favorite snack isn't all that nutritious, you can still buy it once in a while so they don't feel deprived.

Kids need to have some say in the matter. Schedule regular meal and snack times. From the selections you offer, let them choose what to eat and how much of it they want. This may seem like a little too much freedom. But if you follow step 1, your kids will be choosing only from the foods you buy and serve.
