Australia beat Sri Lanka in 1st ODI of series,2013

Sri Lanka was scheduled to play a 5 Match ONE DAY International Series in Australia in 2013. Both teams have great players and all rounder’s and match winners and it would be interesting to see them battle in this series and who batted very well  will be crowned as the winner after the series as both are ranked at 3 and 5. The 1st ONE DAY international match was to be played on Melbourne Cricket Ground, Melbourne, Australia on 11th Jan 2013. Australia holds the upper hand as they are more experienced team and playing at home.

Sri Lanka was needed to score 306 runs in 50 over’s to win this match at the run rate required of 6.12 runs per over.

Sri Lanka batted well but was unable to chase the score of 306 runs and was able to made only 198 runs in 40 over’s at the loss of 10 wicket and lost the game by 107 runs and top scores by D Chandimal who batted very well and aggressively and made 73 runs in 95 balls with 7 4’s and 1 six at the strike rate of 77 runs in 100 balls , T Dilshan who batted very well  and made 51 runs in 70 balls with 4 4’s and 0 six at the strike rate of 73 runs in 100 balls faced, J Mendis who batted very well  and aggressively made 20 runs in 18 balls with 1 4’s and 1 six at the strike rate of 111 runs in 100 balls and Nuwan K who batted well and made 18 runs in 15 balls with 3 4’s and 0 six at the strike rate of 120 runs in 100 balls faced  and extras contributed 13 runs with 2 byes, 2 leg byes, 9 wide balls, and 0 bowlers over stepped for no balls.

Australia   won the match by 107 runs and now this 5 Match ONE DAY international series stands at 1-0, in favor of Australia with 4 more games to play.
