Australia beat Sri Lanka in 1st ODI of series,2011

Australia was scheduled to play a 7 Match ONE DAY International Series in Sri Lanka in 2011. Both teams have great players and all rounder’s and match winners and it would be interesting to see them battle in this series and who will be crowned as the winner after the series. The 1st ONE DAY international match was to be played on Pallekele International Cricket Stadium, Pallekele, Sri Lanka on 10th Aug 2011. Sri Lanka already won the T 20 Int. series 3-0.

Sri Lanka did not bat very well and was able to post total of only 191 runs in 41.1 over’s at the loss of 10 wickets and with top scores of S randiv who made 41 runs in 50 balls with 4 4’s and 1 six at the strike rate of 82 runs in 100 balls and U Tharanga who made 34 runs in 28 balls with 7 4’s and 0 six at the strike rate of 121 runs in 100 balls.

Australia was needed to score 192 runs in 50 over’s to win this match.

Australia batted very well and  was able to chase the score of 192 in 38.1 over’s at the loss of 3 wickets and won the game by 7 wickets in hand and top scores by S Watson who made 69 runs in 51 balls with 5 4’s and 6 six at the strike rate of 135 runs in 100 balls.

Australia won the match by 7 wickets in hand and now this 7 Match ONE DAY international series stands at 1-0 in favor of Australia with 6 more games to play.
