When I first heard of this “Disorder“, my first remark was; Rubbish, (a bit more XX than that, but you get the point).
I said it because over the years there has been an upswing in what I call Artsy Craftsy Mental Cracksy; that is slapping a name on what is neither a psychological malady or exists in reality.
If one does a bit of research the immediate revelation is that where schools do not ‘stream’ pupils so that the brighter children are separated from the duncer, what happens is that the class descends to the lowest I.Q.
So Gary, who is on par with Forrest Gump makes the teacher repeat and repeat, while kids who have normal and above normal I.Q.s become totally bored.
When an adult is bored, s/he will begin to do something else. Draw, read, play with their phones, day dream, sleep, but quietly. Children, healthy normal children, have a problem, and should, with having to sit still for hours on end.
When a lesson is interesting, the bright child will listen. When bored, the bright child becomes, ‘disruptive’.
Hence we now have a label to slap on the Bright Child.
Due to the lack of streaming in schools we can label bright children as suffering ADHD. This is a money maker for teachers.
You will always find some ‘link’ between a teacher and some ‘child psychologist’ who will pay that teacher for a ‘referral’. At some schools it is the Guidance Counsellor who gets the kick back. At others it is the Vice Principal.
For every child referred to the ‘psychologist’ money is paid. The parents have to pay for this treatment. It might be injecting the child with Ritalin, the zombie drug, which should destroy the kid’s life.
It might be weekly therapy sessions which deplete the parent’s pocket quicker than a trip to Las Vegas.
Recently, there has been a recognition that maybe there is no such thing as ADHD. That maybe the child is just bored.
A parent I know had this ‘diagnosis’ and I told her to inform the Principal that you will have to remove your child from the school because you can’t afford the fees and the psychologist.
As soon as she told the Principal this, the diagnosis was retracted.
If a teacher tells you that your child has any of a number of Artsy Craftsy Mental Cracksy designations, tell him or her the same thing my friend told the Principal. This results in instant cure.

Maybe. Maybe not. I can understand you giving your opinion about it but that's only what it is your opinion. ADHD and ADD are being used too much on children that actually don't have it, that part is true but those that actually do have it may need a way of doing things differently than other students. A child can have a learning disability and never get diagnosed. They can then turn into adults that struggle through life finding it hard to find and keep a job. So I wouldn't call all diagnoses fake.
Put it like this, if you grew up in the 50s there were none of these diagnosis. No one had it. If you go to a 3rd World Country, (not the rich areas, the common ones) no one has it. No one has any of these maladies.
