Hubby and I , only had one child. She’s our daughter, who turned 26 years old just last December 25, Christmas day for us Catholics.
Actually, We didn’t expect her to be born December 25, since the doctor said I will be giving birth 29th. But because it was Christmas when I gave birth to her , we added Joy to our ready name for her.
She grew up smart , simple , and a God fearing girl.
During her grade one in primary grade, I would teach her in her homeworks. But after sometime , she told me not to anymore and would just ask me to if she don’t know how to do her homework.
But since then, she never called me to help her. And she graduated valedictorian in grade school.
She was a scholar from her first year to fourth year high school and lived in a dorm in Philippine Science high school in Goa , Camarines Sur,
She went to University of the Philippines for her BS Biology course and graduated cumlaude.
After graduation, she requested us that she will pursue Medicine, to which we said we cannot afford the expensive tuition . But she said not to worry, because she will apply for a scholarship.
Thus, she took the scholarship of a very prestigious hospital in Manila and she passed.
They were actually 95 when they started as scholars in that university of the hospital. She was able to maintain a high grade until they graduated and was the 3rd in those with honors.
The formerly 95 scholars was only 25 scholars only when they all graduated.
Her boyfriend who is her classmate also at UP was also her classmate there, though not one of the scholars. He could also have been a scholar in another university in Manila, but he chose to be my daughter’s classmate there and not be a scholar.
Last May, they both graduated . They both took the Medical board exams last September and passed it with high grades.
She and her boyfriend had their pre-residency at the prestigious hospital that gave my daughter her scholarship. She passed , while her boyfriend did not , so he is into moonlighting with other hospitals and earns much.
My daughter will by this March be having her allowance, which is even higher than my salary. She will be having her residency and will be specializing at the same time there in General Surgery specialization : Oncology .
We are so happy that she chose to just stay in the Philippines because she said she wants to serve the Filipinos. She said she’s not after much for the money her profession will be giving her.
We are so proud of our daughter for that.

That is indeed a very proud moment, very well done. Congratulations to you and your daughter. Even I wanted to be a doctor but I changed my mind lol, and now I am just an accountant.
Thank you. We really are indeed proud parents. Especially that she we have raised her to be a God fearing woman.
Oh, please don't say JUST an accountant. Each of our profession has a different way of contributing to society. Each one is important, to complete the cycle of things in our lives.
Congrats!Very proud of you, for sure. So glad to hear this, a joyful moment. @harpreet singh good to be an accountant too, a good career provided we love our jobs, all jobs are a good job, for sure!
Thank you. And we are so happy that after 9 years, we are through with providing for her. She will be soon on her own. :)
Yes, I told @HARPREET SINGH , not to say JUST an accountant. Each of our jobs are important to make the society a better place to live in. We all have our own contributions to the world having our different jobs. There is dignity in labor as they say.
God bless your daughter. I'd like to add that it is truly a blessing to everyone when men and women are given the opportunity to study and to become "the best that they can be" at whatever occupation they choose as a life profession.
@Treathyl FOX
Thank you. Indeed, the best wealth that we can give our children is giving them the freedom to choose the best course for themselves and enjoy doing the job for the rest of their lives and show their best on it.
Congratulations! Your daughter is a talented one :)
@Michelle
Thank you. Indeed she is a talented one. Maybe she took it from me. Joke , joke , joke
We never expected her to pursue Medicine actually. We though that when he graduated on BS Biology, she will already be contented with it.
But she really has the ambition of being a lawyer actually. But my father a lawyer who eventually became a judge discouraged her because there was a scholarship waiting for her for the science related course so she took BS Biology then pursued Medicine.
At least she also likes so much to be a doctor.
