As a soccer fan, the match today that kicked off at 16:00 PM, the semi-finals of the English royal tournament, The FA Cup, between Arsenal and Manchester city made my day. Manchester City form has been unbreakable in the past few months, so they were most likely to win this game and the winner in the other semi final match (Chelsea vs Tottenham) was already decided, so whoever won this match would have to face Chelsea in the finals of the FA CUP.
Wembley Stadium was the host of the match today where Arsenal and Manchester City faced each other. Today’s match finished with an interesting result of 2:1 for the Gunners, for many people, surprise, as Manchester City clearly were the favorites in this game for many people expectations but at the end Arsenal showed that ball control and possession are not the only thing important in this soccer game.
As the favorites, Manchester City was obviously pressing and dominating the game, with a devastating 70% ball control and 7 shots towards Arsenal’s goal in the first half as opposed to Arsenal that finished the first 45 minutes with only 30% ball control and only 1 shot towards Joe Hart’s goal.
But none of these attempts endangered both goalkeepers goals, as you saw the first half finished in a tie result, 0:0.
Now the second half was more interesting, as the first goal slid into Arsenal’s net in which Manchester City have opened the game with a 0:1 lead in the 62 minute of the game. The goal scorer was none other than the one that brought City’s title 3 years ago, Sergio Aguero. But Manchester City fans didn’t stay happy for a long period.
I must praise Arsenal’s coach Arsene Wenger today because what his players showed today was a class. With a little to not at all dominance, they still managed to freeze the game and just 10 minutes later the equalizer goal was scored by Arsenal’s left back, Nacho Monreal in the 71st minute.
30 minutes of extra time were given to play, as the score in the 90th minute was 1:1. In the 101st minute the former Barcelona player and one of world’s greatest forwards Alexis Sanchez scored a winning goal for 2:1 which led the REDS TO THE FINALS OF this ELITE COMPETITION..
