LEAVE GRAMMAR FOR LAWMA!
“The money SPENDED were properly SPENDED, because we got approval from Mr President”. _ Barr. Solomon Dalung, Nigeria’s Minister of Sports.
So, what’s the fuss about that? I watched the video footage. The Minister had already mentioned SPENT in his earlier submission before slipping into the cesspit of grammatical blunder. I think Nigerians are getting carried away with unhealthy obsession and fixation on grammar. Instead of us to address the crux of the matter, we have allowed ourselves to be derailed from the main issue. Isn’t this funny? Unfortunately, those calling for the crucifixion of Dalung are not in anyway better: they are even worse.
Speaking crisp queen’s English is not a test of intelligence or intellectual capacity. Go to India, Pakistan, Malaysia and Singapore, you will meet world-class professors who cannot speak English fluently, but they are gurus and dons in their fields. Nigerians, with all our mastery of English language, what have we contributed to humanity? Nothing!
A beg, leave grammar for LAWMA! Idea is need jare.

Verb tense errors occur when you use the wrong verb tense and are a common grammar mistake. The verb tense tells the reader of your sentences when the action is taking place – in the past, the present or the future. You must be consistent on verb tense, unless there’s some reason to make a switch to a different tense.

Unclear communication is the biggest issue caused by using incorrect grammar when writing or speaking. Consider the following sentences:
I don’t want nothing from you.
I don’t want anything from you.
While the first sentence uses two negatives to create a positive construction, the second example uses a one negative and one positive to create a negative construction. If you are trying to state that you want a book, a new shirt, or some other item, the first sentence is correct. However, if you are trying to tell a friend that you already have everything you need, the second sentence is correct.
hope you grab?
