Last week, I was able to find just enough time to paint and stamp my nails. It has been a while since I played with the nail stamper I bought from eBay thru an auction so I was so happy to be able to do it after all these weeks!
I bought a couple of nail stamping plates thru eBay auctions as well and had it securely stored in a case (another eBay auction win). So I went through my entire collection and decided to use this unbranded stamping plate I bought from an eBay seller. I was initially planning to keep my eyes on a stamping plate from Born Pretty but I lost in the bidding process, argh!
Anyway, as always, I started with my prep work by making sure everything I need is carefully placed on the table. I also had the cotton balls soaked in acetone to clean the stamper and plates in between stamping to make sure I don’t have to repaint my nails.
For the “base” color, I decided to use two coats of Barry M’s Quick Dry polish in purple. Of course, I applied the two coats after one coat of clear base coat. I let the nail polish dry after about 5 minutes while catching up on social media as it has been quite a busy day for me.
After drying, I went on to proceed with stamping my nails. I wanted to get the floral vine design and applied enough white nail polish on the plate. I scraped it using the scraper that came with the stamper and made sure I have the nail polish produce clear images on the stamp.
I am not sure whether I was rushing the entire process or it’s the stamper, but none of the stamps on my fingernails produced crisp, clear stamps! I know I lack practice but my previous experience on other nail stamping plates (Born Pretty ones) are a lot better than this.
I am a bit upset with the results and not sure whether the other remaining stamping plates that are not generic would end up with the same, blurry result. Anyway, I am still willing to give this stamping plate a try and use it again sometime in the future.
As always, I finished the look with a coat of Sally Hansen Quick Dry topcoat for a shiny finish. It is really effective to protect your nail polish to last for long – mine was chip-free for more than 10 days!
Overall, I am not that happy with this and I can’t say this is an eBay auction win but rather a “meh”. I guess I need to be more mindful about these nail art stamping plates in the future especially if unbranded or not made by Born Pretty Store.
By the way, in case you don’t have patience to wait on eBay auctions but love nail art supplies, check our Born Pretty Store and use the voucher code SHASX31 to get a 10% discount on your purchase!
