There are more than 250 varieties of aloe but that which is effective is known as Aloe vera – Aloe barbadensis miller
Aloe vera (Aloe barbadensis Miller) belongs to the Lily family although it looks like a cactus. This plant is found in various countries but it needs certain cultivation methods for the plant to have its optimum use. . It should be planted away from pollution. The farms should be away from even vehicular traffic. These plants take nutrition from air as well and so it is important that for the extraction of the gel the plants should be grown in pollution free areas Also the plant has to attain a minimum age of two and a half years. Those of you who have been consuming the leaves, are you sure these are grown in pollution free areas, using correct cultivation methods, and their growth is atleast two and a half years? And do you also know you are not supposed to eat the plant but just the juice? After extracting the juice the remnants should be used as fertilizer as artificial fertiliser is not good for the plant to produce the best gel. Nor should pesticides be used to eradicate pests. . Sprinkling of wood ash can rid the plants of pests.
Aloe vera gel contains 76 important ingredients, vitamins, minerals, amino acids, enzymes, anthraquinones and mono and polysaccharides. It also has substances called lignin and saponin.
