Afghanistan Beaten by Ireland in 5th ODI of series,2016

Afghanistan was scheduled to play a 5 Match ONE DAY International Series in Ireland in 2016. Both teams have great players and all rounder’s and match winners and it would be interesting to see them battle in this series. The 1st One Day International match was abandoned due to rain so this has reduced the series of only 4 matches. The 5th ONE DAY international match was to be played on Civil Service Cricket Club, Belfast, Ireland on 19th July, 2016. Afghanistan leads the series 2-1 with 1 more games to play.

Afghanistan won the toss and opts to bowl first; this is how Ireland team and 11 was looking like in this 5th ONE DAY international match: Ed Joyce, William Porterfield (c), Kevin O’Brien, Paul Stirling, George Dockrell, Tim Murtagh, Stuart Poynter (wk), John Anderson, Andy McBrine, G Wilson, Barry McCarthy

Ireland batted very well and was able to post total of 265 runs in 50 over’s at the loss of 5 wickets and with top scores of Ed J who made 160 runs in 148 balls with 19 4’s and 3 six at the strike rate of 108 runs in 100 balls and G Wilson who made 58 runs in 92 balls with 5 4’s and 1 six at the strike rate of 63 runs in 100 balls.

Afghanistan was needed to score 266 runs in 50 over’s to win this match and to win the series and take lead in this 5 ONE DAY match International series 3-1.

Afghanistan batted well but was unable to chase the total of 266 runs  and was only able to make 253 runs in 50 over’s at the loss of 9 wickets and top scores by N Zadran who made 54 runs in 66 balls with 4 4’s and 1 six at the strike rate of 82 runs in 100 balls.

Ireland won the match by 12 runs and levels this 5 match ODI series 2-2. This win means that the series will end tied.
