Afghanistan Beat Zimbabwe in 1st ODI of series,2016

Afghanistan was scheduled to play a 5 Match ONE DAY International Series in Zimbabwe in 2016. Both teams have great players and all rounder’s and match winners and it would be interesting to see them battle in this series. The 1st ONE DAY international match was to be played on Harare Sports Club, Harare, Zimbabwe on 16^th Feb 2016.

Afghanistan batted very well and was able to post total of 216 runs in 49.2 over’s at the loss of 10 wickets and with top scores of Asghar S who made 50 runs in 57 balls with 1 4’s and 2 six at the strike rate of 88 runs in 100 balls and N A Zadran who made 39 runs in 71 balls with 4 4’s and 0 six at the strike rate of 55 runs in 100 balls.

Zimbabwe was needed to score 217 runs in 50 over’s to win this match and to take lead in this 5 ONE DAY match International series 1-0.

Zimbabwe batted well but was unable to chase the total of 218 runs and was only able to make 99 runs in 27.2 over’s at the loss of 4 wickets which is 13 runs behind as per the D/L method adopted as match was interrupted by rain and top scores by C Ervine who made 38 runs in 56 balls with 2 4’s and 0 six at the strike rate of 68 runs in 100 balls.

Afghanistan won the match by 12 runs and takes leads in this 5 match ODI series 1-0.
