Afghanistan Beat Ireland in 1st ODI of series,2016

Afghanistan was scheduled to play a 5 Match ONE DAY International Series in Ireland in 2016. Both teams have great players and all rounder’s and match winners and it would be interesting to see them battle in this series. The 1st One Day International match was abandoned due to rain so this has reduced the series of only 4 matches. The 2^nd ONE DAY international match was to be played on Civil Service Cricket Club, Belfast, Ireland on 12th July, 2016.

Afghanistan batted very well and was able to post total of 250 runs in 49.2 over’s at the loss of 10 wickets and with top scores of M Shahzad who made 66 runs in 79 balls with 8 4’s and 1 six at the strike rate of 84 runs in 100 balls and N Zadran who made 59 runs in 61 balls with 6 4’s and 2 six at the strike rate of 97 runs in 100 balls.

Ireland was needed to score 251 runs in 50 over’s to win this match and to take lead in this 5 ONE DAY match International series 1-0.

Ireland batted poorly and was unable to chase the total of 251 runs and was only able to make 211 runs in 48.2 over’s at the loss of 10 wickets and with top scores by Ed J who made 62 runs in 87 balls with 6 4’s and 0 six at the strike rate of 71 runs in 100 balls.

Afghanistan won the match by 39 runs and leads the 5 match ODI series 1-0.
