Some years ago I went up to New York City. It was during Easter. It was, according to the almanac, supposed to be Spring. Spring comes before summer. It is supposed to be warm.
It wasn’t warm. It was Cold. Really Cold.
Okay, I had some big warm jacket to wrap myself in, but that wasn’t enough protection. My face got chapped. I don’t know if you can imagine a whole face being chapped. Not chapped lips; Chapped Face.
My face was so cold it chapped.
It took a lot of coconut oil and a long time back home in Jamaica for me to get back a real face, not a chapped flakey mask of a face.
Then I learned something. I learned the use of a cheap every day product; Petroleum jelly.
It has an amazing almost instant use to get rid of dry skin. It has a simple method of application.
You wet your skin, you wet your hands, and then you start to rub the jelly into your skin.
At first the jelly it kind of resistant, but then it starts to cooperate.
Wet hands, wet skin, and now the petroleum jelly is going on smooth and soon enough your dry skin is nice and moist.
I went up to New York City in February. Dead Winter. Each day I covered my face with wet petroleum jelly. It kept my face moist. My face didn’t chap. I didn’t use anything else. Not fancy lotion this or expensive cream that, just cheap old petroleum jelly.
In the morning I would take a shower, and with wet hands smear the jelly over me and especially on my face. I’d let it dry on my body, use some corn starch to control the stickiness. But on my face, it was a nice layer of jelly between me and the world.
And with that ‘armour’ I could go out into the frozen Arctic of New York City.
My face didn’t chap. No part of me chapped. Outside of being cold, (despite the insulated coat I wore), my skin didn’t suffer the frost bite that I’d had before.
If you have dry skin, use it.

Talk about Vaseline petroleum jelly you can never go wrong with it. It is th3 perfect moisturiser that ever existed. And its pure and very skin friendly I guess that's why it's recommended for kids and fiddlers. That is th3 oil I used to use when I was younger back in the days until I switched over to cocoa butter but you can never go wrong with vaceline.at any time anywhere it is readily available. Like when a child has nappy rash vaceline is always recommended by doctorsand it works pretty well without any side effects.
Yes, the fact it is so safe is a real plus
