My father and husband are both from The Bahamas. Whether I write for a site or publish my own blog, I try to say something about this beautiful country. So many years have passed since I last visited, so there is not much current information that I can personally supply. There are others who have written interesting articles or blog about current events. Although I don’t follow up on the news regularly, it’s good to check in every once in a while. Also, it’s good for me to keep up my tradition of writing something about The Bahamas in online communities where I am active.
{Side note: I’m listed as an active member here at Literacy Base. Not a popular member. Working on it! Whew! This is a tough crowd. Don’t know what I gotta do to get them to like me! LOL. 🙂 }
OK. Back on topic.
There is a lady who uses the pen name “Stormy Writer” and she wrote an article titled
Five Things About The Bahamas You Never Knew. Even though I already knew four of the five, it was still a fun read. Didn’t know the thing about the Loch Ness Monster. (???)
Here are some more facts gleaned from my own knowledge and/or other information sources (with a little bit of my humor incorporated). Enjoy!

Not disputing this fact, however, seeing that the “Africans” were “enslaved”, not sure it’s accurate to say they “moved to the Bahamas”. It should probably say they “were moved”. Am I being too picky? 🙂

My Father’s Country: The Bahamas
Long Island, Bahamas, is also where my husband spent his formative years (the first 6 or 7 years of his life). He has wonderful memories and I’m glad he shared them with me. 🙂

Hope you like what I shared with you about this lovely country. The Bahamas became an independent nation in 1973 and even though I was born and raised in America, I am honored that I can trace some of my roots and claim a part of my heritage. 🙂

Wow!!! You truly are in love with Bahamas. So much to read. I got to go on a cruise of the Bahamas a few years ago. I was fun and I brought back great memories.
We've been to the Bahamas 5 times. Within the first 4 times, I think we took every shore excursion possible. We pretty much stay close to the first few streets from the cruise port, however, we have taken a few tours that took us throughout the island. We really loved Atlantis over on Paradise Island.
