A Dissertation to write

I am a graduate student that is preparing to start a major project that the powers that be call a dissertation.  My field is in education and I hopefully will be writing a manuscript about how diversity has changed through history and the many affects that this subject has had on many students, teachers, parents and other stakeholders as well.

Writing in any form for me is a way of teaching for that is what I really wanted to be a long time ago when my educational journey began back in the early 1980’s after I graduated from high school.  I was an infant/toddler teacher for about a year till the daycare center had to close down.  That was a fantastic job to have.  Can you imagine playing with babies and toddlers all day and get paid for it.  I did not mind changing diapers and making sure the little ones were fed and safe.  I did this teaching job at the same time that I was also a licensed practical nurse that did various activities as well.  Both of these positions had a lot of ideas for teaching and now after working at both ends of spectrum of age the practical knowledge I have from my experience and theoretical knowledge from my advanced studies have given me enough to write my dissertation that will hopefully be published dealing with how to teach people to accept others in many ways.

I have just completed my coursework and now I have to complete a short internship that is somewhat related to my dissertation work that will incorporate ideas from all my studies and experience.  This is not an article on how to write a dissertation but one that shows what this writer will bring to a project like this.

    • Congrats. at least you are not on that stage and await you good incentives in your work. You can surely make it.Just have focus and concentrate on your writing. I have written and finished masteral thesis of Physics and Dissertation on Mathematics related study. It is not easy to gather data, formulate statement of the problem, formulating hypotheses foremost the instrument and statistical tools needed in our study. Good luck to you Mark.

      • You are one smart cookie to get a master's in Physics and Math. My specialty lies in literature, education and the liberal arts whatever that means. I have a focus for my work and a problem statement in the works and a lot of materials gathered already. Thanks for the luck.

    • Writing for marketing is not easy but writing rests on ideas and ideas come from nature in our mind screen float like wood on the water surface those who are by birth abilities to write may write every book easily on any topic but writing with hard working may not write more than one book because such persons become lack of ideas.

For example If you want to write a non-fiction book, well, follow the advice above. Think of everything you know about something, then write it down. Spend at least three months on the first draft, then spend at least three months on the editing and curation process. Half a year later… you have a book.

Remember always that writing a book – be it non-fiction or fiction – will take you MUCH LONGER to finish than you can imagine in your worst nightmare. Maybe that’s a good thing. If we knew how much work it actually takes to craft a book, the Club would include only 0.001% of the populace!

My advice also includes – Don’t Tell Anyone you are writing a book! Because people think it’s easy. It’s as easy as having the idea. Ideas come quickly, the work involved in writing a whole book takes much longer, alot of dedication, and dare I say it here? frusteration.

So as I casually get asked by everyone I see, How’s the book? I just swallow hard. Don’t get me wrong, going after the biggest goal of my life is, some days, it’s own reward. And others
