castrated bow

Remember “Castrated Bow”? This is a very good poem by Mide Benedict published on his blog site and was copied and pasted by an infamous plagiarist who bore the username of abiola fayemi and posted in the forum, “poet”.

I had called the attention of this new member who used the username, fascogold. I informed him that almost if not all his posts submitted and published were plagiarized. He retorted that it’s wasn’t wrong for he wanted to share those to others.

I pointed out to him the “Castrated Bow” and even attached to my reply the screenshot of the said original article. He didn’t admit that he copied it without permission. He replied that the author of the said poem was his friend who gave him the permission to repost here in LiteracyBase. I doubted him.

I visited the site of that poem and was able to know the real owner of the site. He is Mide Benedict. I think it was only his pseudonym. I found his email address there. I sent him right away an email to verify the claim of fascogold aka abiola fayemi.

Today, as I open my email and check it just to find out that one of the emails was a reply of Mide Benedict sent from his Nokia phone.

Here’s the reply:

“I’m really surprised to hear of such an act of plagiarism: I do no know the name bearer, so I say it’s an act of fraud. Please, if there are other ways you can help me stop this act of plagiarism, I’ll welcome it. Thank you very much.

Adewumi Olumide Benedict (Mide Benedict)”

Here’s my original email to him:

“I have been writing in LiteracyBase and I came across with someone who is using your “Castrated Bow” as his post. Have you given someone a permission to use your poem in an online writing site?

He used the username as “abiola fayemi” Are you familiar with this name?”

Now the verdict

LiteracyBase @admin and @support have taken action and eventually removed him, including all his posts. This is the result of those who joined their efforts to monitor the plagiarist’s dirty works including this subtle newcomer. Now he’s gone. I don’t know if he will return wearing another wolf’s clothing. What’s your guess?

@nakitakona13 these people doesn’t realize how hard it is to composed own poems, stories, blogs, article and the likes, so they are just posting it without full credits of the owner. They do not care how painful it would be to the owner of the content and they do not even understand what this one would bring to the owner. Thank you for doing that to Mide Benedict, for sure he is appreciating everything you did.

You are right @grecy095. It takes a hard work to compose an article for submission. It is not easy to think of the idea suited to the topic what to write. We are not just copying it and transfer it to  another medium like what we are used to writing for our post here. After we are done, We have to review it for coherence, for consistency and everything. Then submit it. And just to learn later that what we’ve done out of hard work is copied-pasted by someone who is very ungrateful.

That is plagiarism, but the intruder or the article grabber would only justify his work. He reasons out that he wants it for others to read. What an illogical reply! He even tells you that he has secured a permission. And when the original writer is asked, you would only be dismayed for he isn’t being asked and he doesn’t even know it. I term him as a robber in a broad daylight.

That is the perfect term, a robber in a broad daylight and even make you a fool believing they asked the owner’s permission, they are the ones fooling themselves anyway, but still this is painful. I know how it feels, it really worries me a lot.

@nakitakona13/

you did a grand job, exposing the bad deed this fella had done and yet denied the whole thing and he had the cheek to say it was his friend??

Good riddance!

However, I bet that he will be back again or he is back already with another name and becoming more cautious now.

Recently, I saw a user posting forum that doesn’t make any sense.

I guess that it might be him…. just a guess…

Let us be careful.

Thanks for being so sharp!

@peachpurple, that is nice to hear that by describing of what I have done as “grand job”. Awhile ago, as I opened my emails to read them, one of them is a reply from Mide Benedict whose poem was plagiarized by abiola fayemi a.k.a. fascogold.

Here’s his reply:

Dear Gil,

I really appreciate your swift help. I later on, after investigating the name discovered that he was my former colleague in the university. I will on my own part take steps to warn him against further act of insincerity, after which if such again comes to be may lead to other strict actions. But I must thank you dearly for your help. God bless you. Thanks for visiting and applauding my blog content: I’ll go through your site and drop a comment. Thank you very much.

So, it’s very clear that it was the “act of insincerity” though they were once a friend in the university.
