How to Remove Adhesive Residue from Aluminum

Copyright allrights reserved by peachpurple

I have just received a set of cooking ware, stainless steel

frying pan, a medium soup pot and a frying wok.

After removing the manufacturer’s label from the

bottom base of the pot, pan and wok, it is extremely

frustrating when the sticky labels do not peel off easily,

leaving some sticky, yucky, adhesive residue that drove

me mad to the wall.

I was mad at myself when the pieces of sticker that was

torn unattractively, left sticky residue on my new

cookwares.

Honestly, leaving the patchy scab there was certainly

 ugly and tacky.

Looks as if I had bought a set of 2nd hand cookwares!

Why you have to get rid of the adhesive residue

If I ignore this residue intact to the bottom of the pot,

it will produce a foul smelling odor when the gas stove

flame, started to burn as it melts.

Hence, the adhesive residue will blacken and

embedded to the pot, leaving black burnt stain.

Tips that I had tried but failed

Cellophane tape

Masking tape

Alcohol

Nail Polish

WD40

Scrubbing liquid soap with damp rag

I even tried to remove the adhesive residue by rubbing

 off with my fingers.

I did managed to roll off the sticky paper into small

balls which had reduced a little.

Have tried scratching the visible labels with your

fingernails?

Yup, I tried that too, was irritated when the bits of

sticky labels got stuck into my nails!

Do NOT do this

Remember, you CANNOT use sharp object such as

knife whether blunt or sharp to scrape off the adhesive

 residue.

It will cause damage to your cookware, you should

read the instructions on the booklet.

How to remove adhesive residue with margarine.

Seriously, I had never thought that margarine would be

the solution to my sticky problem

I was searching for answers online and found a forum

I decided to test it out on my old aluminum mug,

which had that tacky label at the bottom for years.

Here are the step by step instructions:

1. Rub off the paper label as much as possible with

damp rag instead of your fingers.

2. Get another old rag, wash it under tap water,

squeeze out the water.

3. Use your index finger ( 2nd) to poke under the rag.

4. Apply a little margarine onto the tip of your finger

which is covered with the damp rag.

5. Rub it onto the sticky adhesive residue , in circles.

6. Keep rubbing until the margarine disappeared.

7. Use the other side of the rag which is still damp to

 rub off the margarine stain.

8. You will noticed that the residue had reduced a little.

9. Repeat the same steps again until the residue

reduce gradually.

10. You will need rub rub 3-5 times until

the whole residue disappears completely.

11. Finally, use a piece of clean tissue paper to rub

 off the surface clean.

12. If your cookware has the margarine smell, soak

your old rag with soapy water.

13. Then, gently rub the

non -residue surface in circles a few times.

14. Wash the old rag with tap water, squeeze it and

rub the surface again.

15. Polish off with tissue paper again.

By now, your aluminum cook ware should be spotless

and sparkling new.

Tips:

This margarine cleaning solution is applicable to all

aluminum objects including:

Window frames

Door frames

Aluminum computer desktop casing

Coffee table legs

Dining chair legs

      • bestwriter, yes I also don't know why margarine works but it did.
Initially I thought that masking tape would but nope.
I think that olive oil would work too because both are oil/fats made
