Do you know that in Asian countries, you could hardly find

fresh chunk of ham displayed in the supermarket?

Majority of these shopping mall anchor tenant hypermarket

would bring in packed slices of ham for retail and those are

chicken ham, not pork ham.

Ham that is pork not chicken

Finally, yesterday I had the chance to visit a local pork

supermarket that sells fresh ham made from pork.

It was quite expensive but I couldn’t take my eyes off from that huge chunk of ham that looked so tasty and tempting.

Anyway, I paid for a 200g of ham which was sufficient to whip up a nice decent ham dinner for my family of four.

I had decided to bake Ham and Pepper Bean Bake for a change instead of the regular roast ham.

How to cook

This is a unique recipe which is alike casserole stew except that the method of cooking is different from the usual.

You don’t have to cook this ham recipe over the gas stove.

Just leave the rest to the oven to bake a delicious , tasty meal

for an hour.

Now , normally, you don’t add in sugar into a ham with bean

 dish.

You may think that it is odd to add in molasses sugar into a

savory recipe.

However, you will be surprised that this ingredient will give a

contrast color with richness and dept of flavor to this ham

and pepper bean bake recipe.

Canned beans or raw beans

As for the beans, I used canned beans which I had in hand,

for a quick and easy to prepare meal.

If you have ample time, you could pre-boil the kidney beans in

the morning with a slow cooker as these beans take up a

longer time to soften.

A sweet, simple ham and beans recipe that gives you a

 nutritious and balance diet.

you prefer. (red beans, green beans, chickpeas, soy beans )

    • Actually, it's quite common in North America to add molasses to a bean dish with pork. Boston baked beans, made with navy beans or some other white bean, is the archetypal sweet bean and pork recipe.

Your combination sounds fabulous! In fact, if we had chicken ham here I'd even want to try it made with that ingredient!
