“Diabetes” Disease That can Kill part 2

Foods we eat, our meal plans are truly the foundation of successful diabetes management. If we able to eat the right amount and portions of food then there shouldn’t be a problem to easily manage the disease even if we crave for more food than the recommended food intake we should have.

DON’Ts:

  1. Don’t get stressed

Getting stress can be a very big problem for people with diabetes. It will slow you down by not eating the right amount of food you need to eat and has a direct effect on the blood sugar levels.

  1. Don’t eat more than a teaspoonful of salt on a day

It is very essential to reduce the intake of salt for a diabetic person. It should have at least two-thirds of a teaspoon for a day. Instead of using too much salt, you can use herbs to add the flavours t your food.

  1. Don’t let cut or scrapes untreated

Having diabetes means your body cannot heal faster than or as normal as it should be. If you have some injuries or cuts, you must not leave it alone untreated because your body is prone to infections.

  1. Don’t eat at a fast food restaurant often/daily

It is advisable for those that have diabetes to eat more freshly cooked foods and I’m referring to home cooked meals on which the food seasonings are carefully watched and managed. Eating daily in a fast food restaurant doesn’t fulfill your wish to be healed instead it will just made you full and will worsen your sickness. Most of the foods being served in a fast food restaurant are actually prepared already and ready for quick meals only. The foods have preservatives that are present on it plus additional the acid intake you get from the soda or drinks.

  1. Don’t drink alcohol too much

Avoid alcohol when you are in weight reduction diet/process. Although alcohol provides calories and it stimulates the appetite but it should be in moderation. Avoid sweet wines, liqueurs, beer, ale, wine coolers and sweetened mixed drinks because of its sugar contents. Use alcohol only with meals and snacks and only in moderation as I say.

 

When it comes to dealing with children who have diabetes, parents are the number one tool for controlling, managing, and overall responsibility. Parent’s role is to encourage the child to assume responsibility as possible for his/her own care. The mother specially, involved in the diet management of the child. The diabetes issue should not be a secret or unknown to your child but let him know about it openly. Create an atmosphere at home that doesn’t make your kid feel like he/she is sick or odd. The emotional and physical needs of being a child are far more important than those of being a diabetic. Don’t forget that it is not easy but you have to try and try.

    • Diabetes is a disease that is hard to manage because it needs a lot of discipline when it comes to eating! Eat the right kinds of food, and do regular exercises, or always be active.

    • @acelawrites, yes you are correct. The moment you don't control your cravings to foods will be the start of a disaster, complications and maybe the end of your very existence. Other complications would be blindness, not able to walk etc.
