My Advice To Nigerians: Give, even if he lies…..
Give, if anyone approaches you and begs for money, even if he lies.
Give, if he lies that his wife is in the labour room, and he needs money to settle her bill. Just give him. That’s the effect of hunger on a human being. It can make a man lie like Lucifer.
Give, if he lies that his children are in the hospital theater for surgery. Please, just give him. Don’t look at his dirty mouth, oozing with lies.
Give, even if he tells you he traveled all the way from Lagos to meet his brother in Ibadan, and he got stranded, because he didn’t meet him (he travelled to village for Christmas). Don’t mind him, hunger can make a person say unreasonable things. Can’t he just call with #20 to confirm his brother’s movement? Please, just give him.
Give, as long as you have, anyone that comes your way to beg for money. If you don’t have money, give them food (even leftover); either cooked or raw.
Give them, please. Don’t look down on anyone. They may not be professional beggars as you may think. The prevailing economic reality is excruciating. Things are not easy. There is no money in town. No thanks to the pervading economic recession. Everyone is broke.
Give, there is virtue in giving. May our truthfulness never be tested.
