I thought I needed a root canal. So much so that it was even planned for today, after much anxiety! Well, the dentist looked at the x-ray, did some tests, and determined that the tooth was still alive and doing a root canal would do no good. Some new x-rays were done and two dentists determined that my wisdom teeth are pushing on my teeth in such a way that its causing extreme pressure, causing nerve pain. This means, they got to go!
Now, there is a bit hitch in this. I’m terrified of dentists in general and male doctors even more. The only oral surgeons my dentist, whom I adore, trusts to do this procedure are males. My wisdom teeth are very deep and its going to be some major surgery, like….major major surgery. I was completely against any surgery at first and said it wouldn’t be happening – until my wonderful dentist came up with an idea.
She is going to take me for the consult and be there the day I have surgery so I feel safe. As in – in the room watching over me during the surgery. And she’s not charging me a cent for it, she said this isn’t the first time she’s done this. I was shocked and nearly fell over! Looks like I might be having surgery after all. I’m not keen on the idea still but if I have someone I feel safe with there, I feel like I can handle it.
I always said I’d keep my wisdom teeth until they gave me problems. They made it 31 years but it seems like its time for them to hit the road. In July I will be getting with my dentist and we will see about getting the appointment for the surgery consult set up.

It will take about an hour to take it off. Just be calm. Am sure you won't feel anything othet than the pressure that your dentist put while holding your jaw.
I don't have wisdom tooth problem nor had any wisdom tooth popping out.
However, my teenager has one , right at the back of her molar teeth.
She said that the wisdom tooth is bothering her when she chews the food.
So right now, she is chewing food with the other side of her teeth, not disturbing the wisdom.
No plans to remove yet until it started to decay.
Heard that is is very painful and expensive to remove it.
My niece removed hers for $800 !!
