The recent military strikes of 59 Tomahawk missiles directed against Al Shayrat Airbase in Syria should teach President Bashar al-Assad that any use of chemical weapons against innocent men, women and children cannot be allowed to pass with impunity.
In the modern world and in our time there is the concept of International Law that must always be observed by all civilized nations in their domestic affairs and relation with its people as well as in its relationship with other States or country.
Syria is a member of the United Nations and must always act accordingly according to international norms especially against the use of chemical weapons.
The Assad regime must re-think its position in the on-going civil war. This raging civil war is a reflection of something going on within the Syrian society.
The time for a change of government in Syria is now. It’s about time for President Bashar al-Assad to go—and the Syrian people must immediately decide on this matter once and for all.
Prolong Civil War In Syria That Has No End In Sight
The current civil war in Syria cannot last that for long. No society in the world could exist for long with a civil war in its midst and as its constant companions. The Syrian people will always be at the losing end if this civil war continues.
All the parties to this civil war must call for a ceasefire so that a road map to a lasting and effective solution could be forged.
On this regard, the United Nation could intervene with all of its peace-keeping force while all the parties sits in a negotiating table in order to broker some sort of peace deal or peace agreement.
A win-win solution is what is needed under the present circumstances and not a further escalation of war.
Further Military Strikes Against Syria
Despite the recent military strikes against Syria, there is a follow up warning of a possible continued military operation against the government of Syria as stated or remarked by the United States envoy to the United Nations Security Council Nikki Haley that the United States is prepared to do more.
Russia as the number one supporters and ally of Syria in this civil war must likewise rethink its position; it must not aid or abet Syria in the use of any chemical weapons against innocent men, women and children.
It is rumored that Russia maybe complicit with Syria in this chemical attack. If that should be the case, then Russia must also be accountable to the International Community for these atrocities.
Russia thru Mr. Putin must stand for the side of the truth and must ready to sacrifice any bond of friendship with Mr. Assad for the sake of the suffering Syrian people.
In order to prevent any further bloodshed, indeed a political solution must be put in place before the situation spins out of control that may lead to global war which the people of the world can no longer afford to have at this point and time.
