Time Runs Fast, Let the Children Play

Do you allow your children to play in the sun or outside your house? Let them enjoy being children, let them have that wonderful and lasting experience in life.

Overprotective Parents

There are parents who are overprotective of their children. They will not allow them to go out of the house during playtime; they do not allow them to run and bathe in the rain, to trample on puddles, or in some places, to build a snowman.

Parents are so afraid that someone could hurt their children while playing, or they can catch cold or flu if they play in the rain or snow; or they can get bruises if they play in the grass and along the bushes.

Let Them Play Traditional Games

Let the children play traditional games in your country especially those that involve a lot of physical activity. It could be just running, hide-and-seek, “catch me if you can,”, basketball, volleyball for bigger children; or playing skateboard, bike, and other games that will help develop their physique and which they can use later in life.

If they learned to ride a bike, they would be happy when they became adults because it is easier to learn it while one is still a child than learning how to ride a bike when you are already old. Maybe it is because children do not fear of falling down or stumbling while learning to ride the bike. They will thank their parents when they learned how to ride a bike while they are still young.

Games Develop the Child’s Socialization Skills

Playing outdoor games help the child develop socialization skills. They will learn how to mingle with other children, be friendly, learn to accept the feeling of losing in a game, or being thankful and down-to-earth even if she wins it. This helps him strive hard, and learn what competition is all about. All of this will help him as a guide later in life.

Parents Should Be Watchful

If parents are too afraid that their children might get hurt if they play outside the house, they should keep an eye on them, even from a distance. If parents are too busy to keep watch over their children, they should assign an adult; be it a relative, a sibling, a nanny or babysitter to watch the children while playing. They should allow them to mingle on their own, just provide an assurance that the child will be safe, be it from accidents or from criminals who might be planning to victimize the children.

Children Will Treasure the Moments

If the children enjoyed being children, or if they experienced playing outside or even in some parks while they are young, they can always remember it when they grow old. He will always have happy memories, usually funny ones, when he became an adult, more so if they had been recorded in photos or videos.

They would have something to look back to when they grew old; they can share their happy memories; they can tell that they had a very enjoyable childhood days. That they had enjoyed their basic right: to play and be happy as a child.

    • It is very important to provide outdoor activities or even indoor games for children. These games will help children confidence in themselves, make them more sociable and not become an introvert. While learning a bicycle is better than a motorcycle as it is safe. Especially if the child is too young. Communication skills will improve a lot and chances are they will learn new languages other than their mother tongue. Which will help them in the future. The article covers most of the important points which need to be covered on the topic appreciate the same.

Why parents are afraid of children going out is the crimes, violence, children who will be troubled by adults, deviant characters in the society. Injuries which the child would get in the course of play which will be a nuisance value for both parents as well as the child. Too much of studies as education system has become such. Medical bills becoming too costly and in many cases unaffordable. All these create and many other issues and parents being overprotective as they have a single child become causes why children are being denied their proper play hours. Thanks for the share.

    • Thank you Krishna Kumar for your reply.

There are so many factors why parents today tend to be overprotective, and one of them is criminality. There are cases when children are kidnapped, or bullied by other children, or if they are hurt while playing the cost of medication is high, and parents who are working will have to absent from work to look after their child.

In the past, children have more freedom to play outside their homes because it was safer during those days.
