It is graduation season and students who are successful in their studies will find themselves looking for a job to have a brighter future.
It is good if they have good grades in college, or if they took courses or degrees that are in demand. Usually technical courses like Engineering have good batting average when it comes to competition for available jobs.
For Job hunters Here are Some Tips:
These are based on my experience as once a job hunter, and as I observed what other people are doing to get a good job.
First, have a nice, neat and well-written resume. It should look professional, with the qualifications first; usually technical qualifications then followed by personal data.
Technical qualifications means what are your skills, knowledge related to the work you are applying for. It is good if you already have some background on the nature of work, or some experience related to it.
Being active in school extra-curricular activities is a plus. It determines if you are a well-rounded individual who can easily adopt to different work environment. Include the most recent activities, especially in college or university years.
Having received awards or citations in school or in the community can help boost your employment opportunity.
Be Confident During Interviews
When you are asked to come in person to have an interview with the Human Resource Department, the one tasked to screen job applicants, be confident. Come early ahead of the scheduled time of your interview. Wear semi-formal or formal clothes depending on the company; or wear business or corporate attire. Be simple but neat.
Do not be nervous and do not be pretentious when answering questions. It is best to be honest because the interviewer who is an expert in Psychology can detect if you are lying or not.
Be friendly and casual, but do not be overconfident or boastful because this will send a negative impression. Just be smart and if you do not know the answer to a certain question, just say sorry instead of spinning lies.
Do not apply in only one job. Make many resumes and submit it to different companies who are hiring new employees. Look at online job openings, and submit your resume online.
Sometimes having lots of friends can also help you. They can tell you which office or company is hiring employees.
These are only some of the tips for the new graduates. Maybe you can add more to this. Thank you.
