How Do You Treat a Toxic Person?

How do you deal with a toxic person? What I meant by “toxic” is a person who is a nuisance, someone who acts and talks like a poison, his mouth is full of venom; full of negativity!

If he is a relative, the only thing you could do is to avoid skirmishes with him. Use your self-control not to throw back his foul words. This is such a hard situation, where you could not tell what you wanted to say to correct that person.
Maybe when he notices that you are silent, he will stop talking, but if you rebuff, he will insist that he is right and you are wrong.

It is a losing situation on your part, because no matter how you explain, he would not listen; he will insist that he is right.

If the Toxic Person is a Friend

If the arrogant person is your friend of someone you knew, what will you do? The best thing to do is to go away; leave her and do not let her ruin your day. In doing so, you can send a strong message that you do not like what she said or the way she spoke.

People like that tend to be so arrogant. They think that they can always manipulate people; that they can persuade them into what she wanted to do or be the same as her in her line of thinking.

This scenario often occurs when a group or a company is deliberating on a project. One person could be so dominating that he thinks he is supreme over all other people in that room. He will disregard opinions of his co-employees. He will grab the limelight; the attention of his boss. You will wish that the person will stop talking and let other people in the room to air their views.

That dominant person should realize his mistakes. What would you do? In offices, it is common to use the so-called “grape vine.” It is like telling a person about the bad attitude of one person; then that person will tell it to another, and so on until it reaches the person concerned. Even though it can be considered an office gossip, the saying “the end justifies the means” approach became effective. That person will realize that many of his officemates do not like his attitude and maybe he will reform.

There are so many ways on how you could avoid a “toxic” individual. By going away from him, you can be avoid being stressed, and avoid having verbal tussle with him, which usually leads to bad relationships. Just keep your cool, be calm and let him be. Your silence could help him realize he is wrong.

    • I simply ignore these people. If it affects me, I will confront these people right away. I don't want to waste my time dealing with them. As I had mentioned, if it is below the belt attack. I will unleash my devil side and regret of pissing me off. It is not acceptable to scrutinize me without professional touch. He or she will find another face after a good confrontation from me.

    • It is better to be at a safe distance from toxic characters as they try to spread their negativity to others. If we are forced to deal with someone like this in the place of work we should just make it a professional relationship. We should not be affected by their words or mannerisms even if it irritates. We should not allow that thing to get into our mind. We cannot expect a donkey to understand and start behaving like a horse.

If it becomes too much or the person tends to be overbearing. I will sternly tell him what I will do if this continues even if he is a superior. In my experience what I have observed is that the moment I raise my voice everyone goes silent and does not trouble me or take me for granted. That is my ultimate weapon for these people.
