“Thou shalt not bear false witness against thy neighbour.”(Exodus 20:16) Neither shalt thou bear false witness against thy neighbour. (Deuteronomy 5:20) is part of the commandments of God to all people who live on this earth.Bearing false witness is one of the atrocities that generate troubles between couples. There are many husbands and wives that bear false witness against each other and even other people so that their whims and caprices can be accepted .God orders that it is a sin to bear false witness against your husband, wife, children, in-laws, workmates etc. There are falsehoods that breathe out cruelty. The Psalmist prays that God should deliver him not over to the will of his enemies .He wrote,” Deliver me not over unto the will of mine enemies: for false witnesses are risen up against me, and such as breathe out cruelty”. The result of falsehood is always the birth of cruelty and destruction of lives and properties. Husbands and wives must realize that their children, house helps and neighbours are looking at their lives to shape theirs’. The bible has this to contribute,” Wherefore seeing we also are compassed about with so great a cloud of witnesses, let us lay aside every weight, and the sin which doth so easily beset us, and let us run with patience the race that is set before us, Looking unto Jesus the author and finisher of our faith; who for the joy that was set before him endured the cross, despising the shame, and is set down at the right hand of the throne of God. (Hebrews 12:1-2) Should a couple be a bad example to their generations? The answer is no!.The writer of Proverbs declares,” These six things doth the LORD hate: yea, seven are an abomination unto him: A proud look, a lying tongue, and hands that shed innocent blood, An heart that deviseth wicked imaginations, feet that be swift in running to mischief, A false witness that speaketh lies, and he that soweth discord among brethren”. (Proverbs 6:16-19)
